A drive through car wash with one of those screens where you pay and choose the wash you want had a worker out there giving options of different car washes and then had a tip option at the end of it.

They've been like that for a long time

I would rather tip there, at least he is helping with options, than at the smoothie king center where I walk up get my own beer, open it and check myself out and it asks me if I want to tip. No chance.

That’s not new. They’ll spray your lights and bumpers before going in often times.
Gas station self checkout kiosk near my house has a tip option and defaults to 15%. That’s the peak for me

I personally find it annoying that someone is helping with the options. It’s self explanatory.

THIS. I went this morning and the guy comes walking over after I am half way through selecting the wash and paying and squeezes between the car and kiosk to try and take over. I told him that I am fine and to move. They make self service shite and then try to get involved. Either have the guy out there to take payment and provide service or make it self service and leave me alone.

I always love how they ask for a tip for turning around and pouring me a cup of coffee at the cafe

I like this rule: if you’re standing to order your food/drink you don’t tip.

And it’s not like they’re waiters.
They’re getting paid at least minimum wage.
The whole thing with tipping servers is due to their hourly pay being lower than minimum wage.

I have started asking for tips for showing up to a business meeting on time. My options are $5, $10, and $15 and everyone attending has the option to tip me. I don’t really care if they don’t tip me, unless I shook their hand. I expect something for that extra service.

Do the folks downvoting this think that coarse bristles full of grit hitting your car at high speed is somehow good for paint?

Personal favorite is ...
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP A STARVING CHILD IN YOUR AREA?
[$5 - $10 - $20 - NO (I'LL LET KIDS STARVE)]

Just wait until they find out about tip culture

You should go to a different car wash.

There’s a mom and pop restaurant near me that my kids frequently choose as their Saturday night dinner option. I order carry out and the order’s always ready when I get there. If I don’t go for a few weeks, they ask where I’ve been. They were closed for the least amount of time possible during the Scamdemic.
When I pick up my order, I always add a modest tip. It’s my way of thanking them for their work ethic.

AT&T store in the Mall, went to buy a phone cover and they popped up a tip option for the dude ringing me up. That's the peak for me.
