I think that would be a solid hire

We could pay more but he's a Seton Hall legend

Not sure if he is a much different hire than our current coach.

Are we winning those games? It would be an improvement either way.

I like winning. I'd take some low scoring Brady Ball wins about now.

No thanks.

He's been up and down at Seton Hall. They were 7-25 last season. IMO, he's Lamont Paris 2.0. Sure, he may have an occasional good year. But it isn't going to be consistent

He's a nice guy, but that's it. He's obviously unqualified for the position and has learned nothing since he took the job

No way that is former LSU promising freshman Mike Williams dropping 16 against UConn for nationally ranked Seton hall!

It is!

The same guy who played in 33 games (starting 22) as a true freshman (averaging 7 ppg in SEC play) then for reasons known to no one wasn't good enough to play in 1/2 of the games and was a healthy, potential contributor, at the back end of the bench for a team that lost 10 of its first 11 SEC games

You want Shabazz Napier to be the coach?

The majority of the Big East plays a very good brand of basketball. I would be good with this.

You would be ok with a coach who went 7-25 and 2-18 in his league last year?

I did not know that did no research and assumed OP wouldn't be suggesting a coach with a horrible record. I'll put the hand up and take some accountability.

It is easy to fall for crap like that on here. People are notorious for seeing something on TV, liking it for 2 minutes, then pronouncing that that person should be the next coach.

He's a good coach, Seton Hall is the worse job in the Big East however could we entice him to come down south? Personally, with all the money we've devoted to football I could see us making another McMahon type of hire. And if McNeese makes the Tourney again, I could see us seriously hiring Bill Armstrong.

No it isn't. That distinction goes to DePaul. A good coach can win at Seton Hall. Not with the consistency of Villanova and UConn (when they have the right guy), but still win. Kevin Willard averaged 20+ wins a year and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances in a 7 year stretch.

A mid-major hire is not unlikely. Not because LSU is "cheap". But because that's where most of the power conf. hires come from. One power conf. program poaching a high-demand HC from another power conf. program doesn't happen very often in college basketball. Look at the current top 25. Only two schools have coaches that came via that route. Kansas hired Self away from Illinois and Illinois hired Underwood away from Oklahoma St. And Underwood was only at OSU for one season after being hired from Stephen F. Austin.

Just look at Kentucky last season. They had the resources and desire to go out an poach a "big name coach". The boosters wanted Drew, Donovan, Pearl, Pitino, Donovan, etc. They ended up settling on Mark Pope.

The odds are LSU's next coach comes either from a mid-major program or is a "name" coach who is available because he was either fired for reasons other than on-court results (see Chris Beard, Rick Pitino, Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson, etc) or had fallen out of favor despite prior success (Calipari, Rick Barnes, etc). The one potential anomaly is Wade. NC State won't be looking to get rid of him.
