Maury county TN Yanahli WMA, climber way up a poplar. I think it'll be a better view than the cedar I was in Wednesday morning, that one had challenging sight lines. Probably my last hunt, not planning on going tomorrow. Anything that doesn't look scrawny gets it.

Good luck y'all.

I'm about to head south to hunt Louisiana this evening and tomorrow. My MS license expired yesterday. Non resident license fees might have saved a deer or two.

On a spot I never hunted before. Looking down two power lines. Whole stand is wobbly (but sturdy at the same time lol) and to shoot one way I have to rest on the stand door that also wobbles. Hopefully I guess right with the scope

ETA: it is too dang hot to be hunting during the rut in early January

Shot a doe here yesterday evening and my son shot a doe so now just looking for horns or pigs for sausage. As much as I dislike Alabama football I love Alabama deer hunting.

45°F, no wind

Shot a 9 pt yesterday. Just seeing what comes out today before going home.

Only the 2nd deer I've ever shot and the first one I had to field dress. Definitely a good experience and feeling.

Felt like sleeping in but I know my dad would have followed suit. Didn’t finish up cleaning my buck until late. The only spot to skin a deer at the Airbnb is infested with ants. Plan on making my 3 hour drive back south after the hunt unless the deer convince us to stay. Good luck guys

At 8:20 there was a 5 point eating under the feeder. But no matter how it could be measured, it wasn’t going to be 14”, lol.

Congrats on your buck. It’s a rare situation where I gut deer. I haul them back to camp, skin, then debone meat while it’s hanging up.

MISS is ridiculous with the hunting fees for NR.
I sure hope LA still reciprocates....
