If tweet fails to load, click here. I suspect we are going to have some Americans who were injured at this venue. Hopefully not.

Per BBC:
quote:
Crans-Montana is an upmarket ski resort in the Swiss region of Valais, which is popular with British tourists.
The town is home to 87 miles of trails.
At the end of January, the resort is due to host a prestigious speed skiing event – the FIS World Cup.

Reporting on this per Fox News is Swiss authorities say this is not terrorism. We will see. You know how Europeans report things.

The cause of the fire is not known, although police initially said there had been an explosion. The local prosecutor does not believe it was an attack
BBC are reporting a fire broke out shortly after midnight.
quote:
Several dozen people are presumed to have died and more than 100 injured following a fire in a ski resort in southern Switzerland, officials have said. Police said several nationalities were likely involved in the New Year's Day fire, which happened at 01:30 local time (00:30 GMT) in a bar called Le Constellation in the resort of Crans-Montana. It is being treated as a fire and there is "no question" of an attack, the region's chief prosecutor said. A helpline has been set up for concerned families: +41 848 112 117

There’s also no question that the 1993 WTC bombing was a terrorist attack.

From AP article:
Sounds horrific. That would be one of the worst ways to go. Reminds me of the club fire where the band's pyrotechnics caught the ceiling on fire and nearly everyone in the club died.
quote:
Two women told French broadcaster BFMTV that they were inside when they saw a barman carrying a barmaid on his shoulders. The barmaid was holding a lit candle in a bottle that set fire to the wooden ceiling. The flames quickly spread and collapsed the ceiling, they told the broadcaster.
quote:
One of the women described a crowd surge as people frantically tried to escape from a basement nightclub up a narrow flight of stairs and through a narrow door.

Why would anyone be walking around with fire in a wood building….

Yeah
And I remember reading about this:
The most infamous WWII-era nightclub fire was the Cocoanut Grove fire in Boston (1942), which killed 490 people due to overcrowding, locked doors, and highly flammable decor

Yes, I was thinking of the fire at The Station where Great White was playing.
Here's an article with lots of other examples of terrible nightclub fires. Holy crap, there's a lot of them. Another reason to avoid such places.
AP article Link to list of nightclub fires
