Ukraine didn't exert influence on itself to reject a very popular plan to integrate with the EU in 2013. Russia did that. This is what caused Maidan.

Both Ukraine and Russia are demographically doomed.
It's irreversible. The end of both is within sight and the war is only accelerating the end.
No American should give a single shite about anything that is happening in Ukraine and not much more thought to what happens in Russia.

Putin has given Trump a master's class on how to frick with him. Putin was always going to stretch this out until he had a distinct advantage. The last thing he wants is a negotiated peace. The Anchorage thing and it's aftermath should have made that crystal clear.
Putin apologists or people trying to explain his individual actions should be forever banned from operating vehicles and anything weighing more than an electric bike. He won't be happy until he gets what he wants.
Have to determine what he really wants and I suspect you can't give him what he really wants.
