Watching his highlights. If he had a chin he would’ve been unbeatable. Fantastic athleticism in a boxer I’ve never seen. Makes me sad for the boxing days. It used to be a spectacle. RIP boxing.

He was unbeatable. His chin was fine and took punches well most his career

Roy was on his way to GOAT status in my opinion….what hurt Roy Jones Jr was Roy Jones Jr.

That song has no reason to be as good as it is.

Antonio Tarver hit Roy with the greatest trash talk of all time....

While trying to get his first fight with Roy, Tarver was pulling a Clubber Lang at a press conference. Roy says, "I'm the best boxer in the world I can't hear you" Tarver says, "how can you say you're the best boxer in the world when you aren't even the best boxer in Florida?" (Tarver is from Florida as well)

Even Roy chuckled.

RJJ was awesome but Floyd was also a pretty perfect boxer based on the ruleset

That’s what made him so special. He wasn’t the most technically sound boxer but made up for by being arguably one of the most athletic guys in the history of the sport. Once he started to slow down as he aged, it ended fairly quickly. That being said, I don’t think anyone beats a prime Roy Jones at 160 or 168 and I mean ever. Robinson, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard or Duran.

Roy was untouchable up until he started moving up in weight. He lost his "you can't hit me" quickness and became almost a regular fighter after that.

I remember seeing him play a slaw af semi pro basketball game for the Jacksonville barracudas and then later that night defending a title in whatever weight is between middle and light heavy... i think. School had been let out for summer the week before, and my driver's license was fresh off the press. Fun day of teenage Moar shenaniganry.

Isn’t having a chin kind of a requisite for being a boxer? If he didn’t have a chin, doesn’t that make him an imperfect boxer?

Slow down amigo....Sugar Ray Robinson is quite possibly the greatest boxer ever. He could box and punch equally well. At welterweight he was probably the greatest all time and at middleweight he was fantastic also.

Prime Hagler was a beast middleweight also.

Leonard was a natural welterweight, Duran was an all time lightweight and great welterweight, he was not a middleweight even though he gave Hagler all he wanted. Duran was just a special fighter.

I do agree with you that Roy Jones Jr. was a great fighter. He would be a serious threat to anyone.
