CFP Schedule/Timeline Sucks

Quite honestly, I forgot that the playoffs were still going until I saw an ad for the 2nd round today. I get it, my team isn’t in it, but still they are dragging this out unnecessarily.
This will never happen bc of TV and $$$, but I would propose:
1st and 2nd round: played on campuses starting 1 week after conference champs with 1 week in between.
Semis and championships all 1 week after with championship being on NYD.
This would eliminate 3 of the major bowls, which could go back to being prestigious bowl games for teams not in it. All played on NYE.
The 6 major bowls could rotate in.
Again this would NEVER happen bc it would lose ESPN a ton of money.
But this gets teams finished before portal.. gives homefield advantage to the 1st for seeds in 2nd round… and preserves the NYE/NYD tradition of CFB.
Dragging this out till Jan 19th just sucks for the casual observer.

No just busy with Christmas and they lost momentum from 1st round.

It’s just about the most ridiculous schedule for a playoffs possible
But people here defend it like it’s their godchild for some weird reason
Texas tech, Ohio state, Indiana UGA will have gone 26 days since playing

Exactly.
That cannot be good for the players to take an entire month off and then play a super high stakes game.
I get rest is good for injured players but you lose any momentum or groove your team gets in.
The current format makes the 5th seed the absolute best spot. It’s awful that’s how we have it set up.

Don’t worry- as we expand the playoff we’ll be using more weekends.

If the teams with byes all lose again, or even if 2/4 lose, they will 100% change the schedule or you will see teams try to avoid the bye.

Starting next year, there probably won’t be byes.

Waiting 51 days in 2007 to play a single championship game is more ridiculous than the current format.

Dec 1 to Jan 7
Unless December’s work different in Ohio I’m struggling to find 51 days

Ohio St and Michigan used to play before Thanksgiving week. In this case, November 17th, 2006. Then played LSU in New Orleans on January 7th, 2007. And no B1G title game obviously.

ALL playoff games should be on campus except for the title game.

All teams that had a bye lost last year in their only game. Of course two of those were Arizona State and Boise State, who shouldn’t have had byes anyway.

It’s only dragged out because of the stupid rose bowl.
