in revenue sharing, yes there is.
the players will now get a percentage of revenue directly from the schools themselves. The SEC has put a cap around the $20.5 mil mark for next season.

in NIL payments, that is still the Wild West for now.

There is no "cap". Just a cap on the amount of revenue the schools can share (pay) the players. All players. Not just football. NIL still exists as it always has. Ostensibly there will be more scrutiny on NIL deals now. I'll believe that when I see it.

Right, but that's not all of the money. The Athletic Department isn't going to voluntarily spend more money than it has to. Its not profit sharing, its rev sharing. Any shared money adds to the expense column.

There are three avenues for paying players.

There’s rev share, NIL, and private funding aka collective. They could spend 500 million if they so wished.

There is only a cap on direct payments from boosters and school. 21 million. 75% of that will go to football. Nil on top of that is uncapped. But it has to be tied to a business. Thats the new rule for 2026

Well see how that works out. But lsu is in a nice spot being the only major program in the state.

States like texas will have lore regional.funding for its big schools.

The revenue sharing is the 21 million

LSU is likely going to spend northward of 30-40 million in year 1 roster with Kiffin. This was agreed upon when he took the job. You have the revenue sharing and then the side NIL uncapped endorsement money. Ole Miss is trying to bid LSU up to hurt us and overspend our roster. This is also why you haven't heard Kiffin's strategy much on what he's doing in the portal because Ole Miss will try to come in to bid players up. They're just trying to kneecap Kifin any way they can. It's pathetic.

This is incorrect.

If the rules emerging from the House settlement are actually followed, direct payments to players cannot exceed the revenue cap. NIL deals are separate and do not count towards the revenue sharing cap. However, all NIL deals in excess of $600 dollars must be reviewed and approved by a clearinghouse to ensure they are legitimate and constitute a fair market exchange of value. Collectives and other sources cannot simply pay players in excess of the cap, unless they decide they want to break the rules and cheat, of course.

There is no cap currently. Schools have 20 million for revenue share and can’t go above that. They can allocate that much how ever they wish. No NIL is different. There is no limit on NIL. But the deals have to be legit if over 600 dollars. If over 600 then it has to go through the firm hired to track and approve the deals and make sure they are legit. So expect thousands of deals for 599 dollars. Also the bag man is not going away teams will still pay under the table.

We can also make them pay more their current roster targets - goes both ways

This isnt the way it is done. There might be some pettiness in other areas, but Ole Miss isn't going to get in a game of chicken and potentially over spend on a random player because he might be going to LSU, or any other team for that matter. Now, a random booster might be compelled to open his wallet a little wider to stick it to LSU, but that would be more of a closing technique used by Ole Miss on their own funding base.

They're already doing it with their current roster. They have a 1.8 million offer on the table for Lacy which is insane money for a RB. That's way overspending for that position group. They don't want the optics of LSU stealing their roster but you can expect if LSU does poach guys like Lacy they're going to come right back at LSU and throw that money on the table to our more talented players as well. Like, Berry which is why LSU is trying to get him on a deal right now. They know LSU needs OL too so they went in and threw a bunch of money to resign their OL guys.

It's stupid and petty for Ole Miss because it's going to hurt them in the long run but this is where they're at right now. They're emotional and pissed off like a scorned ex. Ole Miss is already overspending in the bidding war so you can bet LSU will too.

The metro areas of Dallas and Houston have nearly 2x the population of the entire state of Louisiana and Texas as a whole has 27 million more people than Louisiana. There are enough big-time boosters in Texas to fund their major conf. schools.

Another thing you are seeing are states like Texas, Florida and Tennessee using the fact they have no state income tax as a selling point

He is the best RB in the league and their best skill position player (assuming Chambliss is out of eligibility). They are of course scared of losing him, and may indeed be paying him out of desperation, but they aren't making that offer to drive up the price for other teams.

My point is this isn't some personal vendetta to screw over Kiffin or LSU. It may be bad business, but it is still just business.
