What’s the deal with this place? There is a line out the door and it’s causing traffic jams on Focis Street. Is it really that good?

Absolutely phenomenal ice cream. The guy that started the business has been doing pop-ups/weekly drops with small batches for the past several years in Harahan/Elmwood area. He releases at least 3 custom creations weekly and has a few other selections that are staples in stock weekly. His drops go "live" on Wednesdays at 7pm on Hotplate.

He sells out literally within 20-30 minutes. Pickup windows are staggered between Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays. It's premium price, but the product is well worth it. We've bought from him a few times over the past year, but it's difficult to get there routinely with the past pickup times he offers. He and Laozi are the best Nola has to offer ice cream wise.

I've never been, but I've heard from solid sources that it is worth the hype.

The Old Met location only sells soft serve ice cream with a cookie. I heard it is $12. There’s a constant traffic jam outside fighting for parking spots and a long line inside. Neither the line nor the price for soft serve make it worthwhile to me.

I’m guessing some folks are there for the Ill Supremo pizza, which is adding to the traffic.
Quite the little business model they have put together for that location.

It's incredible. Would you pay $12 for an incredible dessert at a restaurant? Very likely.

There's something about the texture that is very different than any soft serve or ice cream I've ever had. It's like a hybrid gelato/yogurt/ice cream. Almost feels like it doesn't melt at all and its not harshly cold either. Maybe Alton Brown could break it down.

Comes down to your perceived value for your dollar. I'm not buying a $12 dessert every night f my life but certainly will occasionally for what I value as a great product I like and enjoy.

Laozi is easier to get, that’s for sure. I had looked into Super Witch but seems like a pain to secure
