Carter's contract has one more year (4 years, 22 million). Prolly get at least $40M a year when he signs again, with whatever team.

Hurts just signed for $50M a year, roughly.

Who is more important to a team - someone that is a very good leader but - and let's be honest here - an avg qb at best, skills wise; or a defensive player like Carter.

NFL teams have to pay that kind of money for a QB even if they know that QB is not a top ten QB.

What can teams do?

They will sit back and continue to draft well and manage their roster& laugh at other teams that overpay for players.

Is this a serious question… Myles Garrett a generational talent but if he wasn’t on the Browns and they had halfway decent QB play they would have won the AFC North this year… Aaron Donald was next level but it took Stafford to get their to win a Super Bowl

He is obviously a great talent at QB and was/is probably a top 5 QB in the league, so that's an outlier. That's my point. The question isn't about Donald vs Stafford; it's about Carter vs Hurts. Browns win the division cause it sucks. That's why a halfyway decent QB has that impact you referenced. How's Burrow doing in Cincy? Yeah, he made it to the Super Bowl his first year, and he's arguably top 5, certainly top 10, but they don't have any help for him at all. Teams have to overpay for QBs that are not top 15, and that hamstrings them in the rest of their roster. The Eagles have done, up till now, a good job with that. But it will come back to bite them. Same for San Francisco.

Could the Eagles have the same record with a Geno Smith or even Rogers (yes, serious question). It's just interesting the way NFL teams have to overpay for a QB, which limits the rest of the roster. The Eagles will have to deal with Hurts' cap hit eventually.

Hell no… only because the Tush Push has probably got the Eagles 30+ touchdowns and 100+ first downs in the last 4 years…

Any team that pays Jalen Carter $40 million a year doesn’t give one iota of a frick about winning games.

The eagles won today against a top nfl team and hurts had 110 yards on 48% passing

I think if you got rid of Hurts and signed Huntley the eagles don’t miss a beat

Because a shitty QB can be much more detrimental to a team than a shitty D-lineman.

Hurts has a set of traits that are useful…..but it doesn’t necessarily add up to him being a too 15 QB. The tush push bullshite has helped them immensely….especially since it’s not called properly

Hurts is just NOT a top QB in the league.

Eagles don’t want a top QB, just a guy that wins Superbowls.

As opposed to Josh Allen? The Josh Allen who had three major frick ups that cost his team the game today? Horrific playcalling by the Eagles OC in the 2nd half really hamstrung the Birds. It’s been a major issue all year along with 3/4 of the offensive line being injured for most of the year.

Allen cost his team 10 points with his fumble and the 25 yard backward scramble that took them out of FG range. Doing that works against average defenses, but, the Eagles are elite and the best defense in the league. The Eagles get you into a chess match where the offense does just enough, doesn’t make the big mistake, and dares you to play perfect against their defense.

Hurts has absolutely benefitted from being on the Eagles who have by most all accounts the most overall talent in the NFL the last couple of years.

How well he'd do somewhere else I'm not sure but I absolutely would not consider him a top 10 NFL QB. Someone recently came out with top 10 QB's and he was not on it and the dude got heat, but he was right.

Jalen Carter seems like a cancer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles try to trade him before a contract extension.

11th in passer rating and in the top 5ish with 33 total tds but the esteemed minds of Tigerdroppings don’t like him because he went to Bama so he’s automatically a failure. Gotta love that Louisiana Logic lol
