How is Krewe of Nefertiti in New Orleans East? Good for families from out of state?

I hope this isn’t a serious question.

ETA: For anyone not from NO reading this: If an event is in New Orleans and they add East at the end, you do not want to bring your family to it.

You are joking right? Imagine putting a parade in downtown Mogadishu. There’s your answer.

Highly recommended. Remember that this is the sister Krewe of Zulu, so make sure and dress up the whole family in black face, with grass skirts.
Bring a bunch of coconuts, but since is New Orleans East, you will be encouraged to throw the coconuts at the float riders first, and then any random policeman that you see. I know, I know, it seems like a weird tradition, but that's what makes New Orleans special! Then, when the marching bands come by, please try to throw beads into the nearest tube. If you get one in, pay homage to the band by shouting "here's to you, who lives at the zoo!"

I hope you are not serious with this? If you are just for some reference. People get shot just driving through there on interstate 10.

Despite the hyperbole from some on here about the dangerousness of New Orleans, seriously, unless they are black and very much acclimated to New Orleans ratchet culture, do not let them take their neophyte family to a parade in the East. Period.

That would be like the Jerk telling you what you can win for guessing your weight.

There seems to be some kind of vague hierarchy out there. I mean, people went back after Katrina. Gotta be some reason that I do not know.

Pre Katrina it wasn't nearly as bad, some people have said it used to be a great place to live. I've never lived there so I don't know. I had a big customer with a HUD property there and there are subdivisions with nice homes there alot of them are no longer kept up. Seems like at some point could've been a good place. Presently Chef Hwy looks like a Mad Max setting.
