I went there this evening for the first time ever and was amazed at the quality of stuff in there.
Got some khakis and a Columbia fleece for $14 altogether.

They have great stuff a lot of times.
That said they are in the profit game big time now

Been a long time. I usually don't see anything I like so I gave up on it.

Definitely. Find my teenage boys Sitka stuff there all the time. Better than buying it brand new at this point because they grow so damn fast.

There is a goodwill boutique in old Metairie that they pull all the good stuff out from circulation in the Nola area and sell there for way too much. Not much good to be found at the regular ones. They also take any real collectibles and sell them on their online auction platform.
If you actually want to thrift shop and find gems, you have to go to less corporate thrift stores

Yep, we quit taking stuff there. Here locally, they build brand new buildings in prime locations. Making bank.

Used to... then I learned of bedbugs.

All the time and other thrift stores. In the last couple of weeks I have found some GAP pants and some other brand of pants I can't recall but retail was over $100. And both still had the retail tags on them. I also found a green paisley blazer I wore to some Christmas Parties and it was new with tags and retails for $199.

What do you do with your stuff?
The little old ladies who run the thrift shop at the church are inundated with people looking to buy and resell. In my opinion that defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do.
Goodwill employs my friends autistic son.

I hit up thrift stores when I'm in Colorado. They often have nice used hiking gear.

Purple Cow FTW
I happened to walk into the Gateway when they were having an unannounced 25c per piece of clothing sale. The catch: you couldn' try anything on.
I spent maybe $20 - a fortune to me at the time. Most of the shirts I bought were too small, but I ended up w/9-10 pairs of wearable pants - some of the work jeans lasted for years, so it was still a bargain

My wife does the Goodwill circuit.
Best find I’ve ever gotten out of one is a Saints hat signed by two of the Dome Patrol (Rickey Jackson and Pat Swilling IIRC)
Also gotten some signed baseballs with names I recognize who weren’t superstars like Glenallen Hill (Spider-Man).

Yeah, I know a lady that has done the Goodwill/Purple Cow to Poshmark/Ebay for years. Made thousands each year. She paid for an RV with her sales.
