Sage grouse are gone from North Dakota

After years of declines, officials in North Dakota announced that sage grouse are gone from the state.
The species’ numbers have been declining nationwide, likely due to
habitat loss for ranches and development. Political pressure has kept the bird off the endangered species list because money is the most important thing in the US.
What is the government doing in response?
The head of BLM, a former oil and gas man, is on the case:
Classic political obfuscation. The idea that sage grouse are thriving is a complete fantasy.

The Trump administration is planning on making more acres of public land available for energy and mineral development in eight Western states, a move worrying environmentalists watching for the declining population of greater sage-grouse.
The Bureau of Land Management announced Monday plans to modify its greater sage-grouse land use plan on about 50 million acres of sagebrush across Nevada, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, California, Utah and Wyoming.
The head of BLM, a former oil and gas man, is on the case:

”We are strengthening American energy security while ensuring the sage-grouse continues to thrive,” acting Bureau of Land Management director Bill Groffy said in a news release.

So we should never use our land resources?
We'll be fine...and what about other states? Or does the grouse refuse to cross state lines? Can they go to Texas? No income tax there!

Progress has side effects and the landscape of the world is littered with bygone species that progress swallowed

There is land for both. If not tell all the humans to leave. No? Then make it work. Grouse Unlimited. It was the same with ducks and the same was said. Then groups got together and fixed it. A pipeline or a dig or a derick is not the main problem but the will to fix probably is the bigger issue.

I don’t see how drilling for oil will cause a decline in the overall grouse population. Even if you drill for oil 99% of the land is inhabitable for grouse.
Also, how can ranching be bad for grouse? Seems like grazing cattle and grouse could coexist.
Seems like the decline in grouse is being caused by something else and people are just tying it to progress because they are occurring at the same time.

Same way it can be bad for quail.
Not enough quality cover and nesting habitat

Urban sprawl due to white democrats fleeing what they voted for and tearing apart other states is the cause. Happens all over the South also

Biden didn’t save them, just like he didn’t cure cancer, but blame Trump?
Cool story.
Cool story.

Chemtrails are bunk. They are so high up in the atmosphere they would land somewhere in Europe. In order to hit the US, you'd need to be spraying out in the Pacific Ocean.
Here in Florida, we get dust from Africa.
There is a reason why crop dusters spray from just above the fields. That's the only way you can actually hit a target.

They were everywhere. Then Trump came again in 24 and the grouse self deported to Venezuela.

Grouse need grass and sage to survive. That doesn’t exist with high numbers of cattle.
It would be similar to asking you to live in an asphalt parking lot with no roof over your head.

So long as shithead Biden didn’t do anything we shouldn’t do anything either?
Even cooler story.

Well we have that in Pensacola. The people are still here. Alive. No roofs.

It depends on how that rangeland/pasture has been managed. If you bring in a bunch of non-native pasture grasses and manage only for that, then any and everything native that would be beneficial to those grouse would have been choked out long ago. Their forage is gone, the native species that insects thrived on is gone, their cover is gone, their nesting sites are gone......the grouse are gone.

I'll take a bunch of those birds over the average American.

Progress
I don’t see a landscape littered with Dollar Generals selling Chinese garbage that used to be wildlife habitat as progress.
Just one example.
