#1 NFL draft pick should go to the first team to miss the playoffs

I think it should in descending order for missed playoffs team and then the teams that lost first until Superbowl champs gets last pick.

I'm sure it will just be a matter of time till there is a draft lottery like in the other leagues.

...which I don't see at all in the NFL. The Saints are on a run, the Titans are up to 4 wins, the Jets snd Giants have 12 one-score losses combined, and the Raiders almost upset the Texans last week in Houston. The players on these bad teams are fighting for jobs.

NFL careers are so short no one can be seen dogging it on film. Plus, on bad teams, why would a player help the organization acquire better prospects that could potentially replace them and end their careers?

How about have a drawing, where each GM picks a random number out of a bucket for their draft order and a drawing is done for each round? I think it's BS penalizing a team because they have better coaches and evaluators of talent.
Maybe have the GM drawing order based on where the teams end up record wise with worst records drawing first.

I think it would be cool if the week before the SB the teams in line for the #1 and #2 pick played each other and the winning team gets the #1 pick.

First off, there is nothing wrong with current draft so don’t change it.
In a fake world you could assign every draft spot an exact salary descending from 1 to last pick.
Then each team gets dollars based on how they finished. Last place team gets most dollars and so on. The dollars doled out equal the total pay of draftees.
Then on draft day each team is issued a secure NFL laptop. Then you bid on how much you would pay for pick 1 and top bid wins. The winning team selected the player along with their bid. NFL announces winning team and pick and how much paid. Then pick 2 is bid and so on.
Each team has to manage their pot of money and when out you’re out.

The draft in the NFL is not as impactful as the NBA.
The Browns got Baker, Arizona got Kyler, Titans got Cam Ward, Buccaneers got Jameis Winston…David Carr, Tim Couch, Michael Vick, etc. etc. It takes more than one guy to turn a team around.
NFL draft is fine. NBA draft is rigged.
