It's called CKX Lands (CKX) and has been on the stock market since 1995

Looks like they own a shitload of land/oil/mineral rights in Louisiana.

https://www.ckxlands.com

Anyone know anything about this company?

Headquarters

2024 financial statements here LINK

Interesting that it has only two employees. I figured the Lawton's would be involved somehow but there aren't any on the board of directors. There is a Leach, though.

Houma used to have one too. Gulf Island Fabrication

It headquarters moved to the Woodlands, several years ago as it tried to expand into Texas, but I think they sold off what they had in Corpus, and even some yards/contracts in Houma.

Not sure if any other oil and gas company that blew up in the 1970’s and was eventually sold off or shut down in the 1980’s were publicly traded companies.

I just read your link and opened the maps. That is the Stream family. If you buy wetlands for mitigation in Louisiana, there's a 90% chance you are buying it from them. They are old money wealthy. Not just rich.

Also, Spook Stream used to be married to country singer Lynn Anderson

Here is an article about his super yacht

Spook's son. They own shiite all over. The matriarch, Matilda Gray, was the wealthiest woman in the US in the late 1960's.

The most stable bank in the nation at the time, Calcasieu Marine National Bank was publicly traded. That was W.T Burton. It had more cash on deposit than outstanding loans. Then CM Tower was paid for when completed. Later demolished as Capital One Tower.

At least the 1970's The Lawtons were in awe of Spook When Lynn Anderson was the entertainer at the rodeo. They hosted a dinner for her afterwards at Chez Oca restaurant. Spook showed up at the door with flowers and requested to meet Ms. Anderson. The Lawtons about shiit when the word was brought to the table. I know, being there personally as a waiter while in college. They told her that she must see him, he was the wealthiest in town.

On a side note, a song recorded by Gray Stream.

Not with the Gray/Stream money. Leach is just Welch money. He made is money drilling in Mexico then the Tepitate Field near Eunice with a pipeline to Conoco, now P66, refinery in Westlake. He was also a minor partner in Lacassane Company, put together by the Bels to bail out a cousin, Gardner, from bankruptcy. Albert Bel (Ab) Faye from Houston got 49% of the money from Houston. Not related to our past governor. I remember when Jim Bel discovered he owned two sections of land leased to a rice farmer near Welsh. Someone asked if they could lease for duck hunting is how he found out. It was just another check coming in annually. That was in the late 1990's.

What is Milorganite Fertilizer?
Milorganite is a type of organic fertilizer made from the heat-dried and ground remains of sewage sludge, also known as biosolids. The process of creating Milorganite involves a multi-step treatment process that removes pathogens, heavy metals, and other contaminants, making it safe for use in gardens and agricultural settings.

Houston had sludge drying beds at its sewerage plants into the 1980's. Also tampon applicators and condoms spread everywhere.
