Went and tracked cousin’s kid’s buck this morning. Dog gave up pretty quick. Cuz kept on the trail and jumped it 600 yds from first blood. We think it was a brisket shot. For the more seasoned deer trailers, do you think the dog knew it wasn’t dead? She’s done this twice in the last few years. Only deer she hasn’t recovered.

Up here I'm going straight from a high of 70 to a high of 35 Monday. I prefer the cold for sure, not I'll get out there Friday or Saturday anyway, probably. Have a damn dentist appointment and people to interview Monday. I need at least one more set of meat in the freezer though, will find a way.

What dog breed? I’ve seen a black mouth cur jump onto a doe’s back with a broken left leg, no hit in body cavity just through the leg below the joint. Dog handler shot her in the head while the dog held her by a rear leg. Wild times.

Catahoula. She has bayed before. She just totally lost interest 200 yds in. Little disappointed in her but the deer was on its feet 1000 yds away. It also crossed property lines. We also waited a few hours after it was shot. Mainly hate we didn’t find it.
