"We have amicably and mutually agreed that Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League, following the 2025 season," O'Neil said. "Brooks is prioritizing the needs of his family and staying closer to home. We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success, both on and off the course."

We’ll see if he is truly semi-retiring to spend time with his family. He’s only 35, but he’s won 5 majors and at least $200M in his career. That is one hell of a career if he’s really walking away from competitive golf.

Looking at the LIV event schedule 2026, it seems like there is a lot of world-wide travel involved.

LINK

There comes a time in most people life's where money is not as important as being close to family and home.

The man has generational wealth for his family. So money may not be the issue.

Lots of traveling gets to be a grind on a person and their family life.

Maybe he gets back on the PGA. I am not fan of the LIV format and rarely follow it.

If I’m 35 and have his money, I’m retiring too. Hope he continues to perform at a high level. But if he chooses to go fishing every day, I can’t blame him.

He will next year once his suspension up. LIV has been very underwhelming, but Keopka seems like a guy that can’t stay in one place or have the same people around him for long.

The players got sold a bill of goods in some ways, but he also took the money

Yes Koepka will be back playing in PGAT events by fall of 2026 or in 2027.

I imagine we’ll see him at the majors & maybe a few DP Tour events this year.

No chest. Couldn’t handle the competition of LIV. Maybe after his “retirement” he’ll end up back in the minor league called the PGA.

Does the PGA let him back in? I'm sure he's exempt in some PGA tourneys for 2026 but what does he do in the weeks that he's not exempt?

Imagine having 200 million at age 35. Damn it must be nice

PGA Tour has been enforcing a 1 year suspension for golfers who play in a non sanctioned event. Koepka’s last LIV event was on 8/24/25 so he would be eligible to return 8/24/26 - if they follow that policy.

He’s free to play in majors & DP Tour events

If I’m the PGA, I make him earn his card.

Technically he has a card through 2028 from winning the 2023 PGA Championship.

Wasn’t the whole point of liv to play less golf because they didn’t like grind of pga

Now liv is adding more holes to their tournaments and the travel is actually worse then pga

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The defections back to pga is laughable

The PGA Tour has completely revamped their schedule and is about to get rid of a bunch of events… because of LIV

As I said, LIV has not lived up to what it could have been, not even close. But there’s no reason to be dishonest about it. It’s made the guys who stayed on the Tour a shite ton of money and made their lives and schedules a lot better

I have no idea how you keep grinding when you’re worth that kind of generational wealth at 35 years old.

From Day 1 a golfer on the pga tour had the option to pick a schedule that would allow for more time at home , before they revamped anything

The more time at home line from LIV has always been bullshite

No they didn’t. You’ve been watching golf for 4 years now, you have no idea how the schedule used to work. Just how you had no idea how the OWGR worked. Just how you had no idea how the Tour was structured. Etc. etc

Not really. It was always about money before anything else but the rules about scheduling pre LIV were convoluted and kind of insane

You mean wasn't the whole point to make a ton of money?

They made a ton of money, and they'll all start coming back to the PGA richer than they were. and LIV will eventually fold and we'll learn once again that Saudi Arabians throwing away gobs of cash thinking they can compete with the PGA and European soccer leagues will once again be laughed at.
