Looking to build a couple of new box stands and looking for ideas that some of you put in there that are must-haves, or is there something that you wish you had put in to make things more comfortable or a better experience?

I really like the sectional sliding windows in the new Antler Shed blind we got last year. Also the carpeted plank that you can move around in there makes for a great elbow rest/shelf. Another blind we built has shelves in one corner, which is handy.

Having a small porch/landing at the top of the ladder helps you get yourself established before getting in and out. I like having flat stair treads instead of a "ladder" to climb up.

All of the above makes for a better experience with bringing the kids..

I'll try my best to describe this, but I was in my buddy's blind and noticed he did this...

The studs used to frame the walls are typically used as shelves for your drink, phone, etc.

In the front two corners, he had cut right angle triangles out of plywood, trimmed them to fit around the studs flush with the wall as well as braced them underneath with a 2x4 with ends cut on 45 degree angles to match the 2x4's of the frame.

So, Instead of a 3.5" "shelf" of a 2x4, he now had shelves that sat flush in each corner roughly the size of a legal pad if it was cut to fit in the corner just right.

Let me know if that makes sense. I could tried to draft or sketch it for you if not.

5 gallon propane tank in a holder off the ground for the heater. No more taking 1 pound cylinders with you.

Almost air tight construction to keep the wasp out.
Landing at the ladder/door so you’re not having to stand and open the door towards you while holding a rifle and daypack in your arms.

Lots of extra screws in the studs to hang stuff on.

Make it big enough so you can take your son's shoes off and put them in a corner out of the way as soon as you get in to keep the noise from him kicking the walls all day down to a minimum.

Shelves that are at the correct height to rest your back elbow on while shooting. If you can prop your back elbow on something while shooting you can be dead eye dick out to 250

I glued some noise canceling insulation to the inside walls of my stand. It makes one hell of a difference.

Yes sliding windows are great!! Don’t have to make much movement opening them.

We’ll never own a box stand without some type of window. They’ll still smell you but can hunt that plot on an iffy wind.

Staple some old carpet on the walls around where your feet might hit, especially if you'll be hunting with kids.
