I posted yesterday about a player from Ole Miss not being worth 2 million to run the football. Per a morning local podcasters there in Baton Rouge Lacy was offered 1.8 from ole miss, up from just at/under 500k this year. I hope we keep our freshman at LSU. The guy has the “it” factor. we all saw him hitting the holes fast, making cuts and gaining yards. Yes he fumbled the ball twice. I like our guy, especially with what I hope we all feel is a better offensive line coach, teaching!

I prefer Lacy. I expect Kiffin does as well.

Whomever we get, they will need a better line.

Looked like he couldn't lift his arm with his shoulder injury. I see a surgery in his future.

Why don’t we just start ofering all these players millions of dollers and just defer it like the dumb dogers do to win all there championships! Seems to work for them!

That's silly. He's worth what someone is willing to pay him.

The prosperity that comes from a winning football team is worth 100 times what the coach or any player is paid.

Think about what Nick Saban has done for the entire state of Alabama. The downwind effect of a winning football program is almost incalculable.

It doesn't matter if you specifically think it's too much. You're not even in the same world as these people. 2 million bucks is a rounding error on the balance sheet of some of the booster's companies. It's laughable that anyone on this board seems to think they have a grasp on the economics of NIL.

It depends on whether we are committed to a major investment in our OL in the portal. Unless we are willing to buy some talent in the trenches, it makes no sense to waste 2 mil on a RB.

I feel like our running backs could be way better with improved coaching and scheme, but maybe that’s just me hard to justify paying $2M otherwise.

What if he takes 1.8 from ole miss but he is actually okay with. 1.2 and a BETTER program from LSU.

Offer him what you think he’s worth.

Ole Miss will continue to offer current LSU players/recruits above market value just to make LSU spend more money. For 1.8 they can keep him!

You don't pay $2m to a RB unless it's Derrick Henry.

That’s what I’m saying.

Put yourself in his position.

What is he making now?
What can ole miss offer in 2026 over LSU…and vice versa?

He may be willing to take 1.2 and follow Kifffin.

Are you just replying to the whole thread or me in general?

I say offer him what he’s worth.
This program has a value that ole miss doesn’t.

He may take less.

Keep Berry and Durham, beef up the O-Line, and save a Million.

Well, Lacy will be the closest thing to a D. Henry caliber RB in the portal this year and a preseason Heisman candidate if at LSU. Maybe that's worth $2 mill.

LSU has two guys that should be featured backs. Get a 3rd down type guy and an small-school project from the portal, and use this money for your OL.
