A spending problem with inadequate auditing will lead to fraud. But audits may find fraud after the fact, or they may not.

W have a spending problem, first and foremost. Greatly reduce spending, then audit the remaining leech systems to the core several times per year.

Yes income tax season should hit harder this year knowing that not only is the government wasting your money but that a good chunk of it is going straight to outright thieves and grifters many of who are anti-America.

How about adding some transparency as well?

What if there was a website where we could see who every welfare recipient was and how much they receive?

Internet sleuths would absolutely root out the fraudsters.

I think they'd be as good at this as they are at identifying mass shooters.

Obviously.

What are YOU going to do about it (through your representatives)?

Nothing. The outrage will subside once you’re fed the Super Bowl, etc., and it will continue to grow.

Rinse. Repeat.

Yes. It is everywhere. Crooks in charge of crooks. Need Christian values.

A people instilled with relatively homogeneous moral code will be a high trust society and need very little policing or government.

The founders knew this

It’s an American voter problem.

Agreed.

Maybe some transparency will help voters understand the results of their voting choices.

No. The spending problem is mainly a vote-buying problem, but it’s legal. Graft is a small percentage of our spending. Inefficiency is a larger problem. But eliminating both would not get us anywhere near a balanced budget.

As the great man once implied, someone who spends another man’s money on someone else will not worry about how it is spent.

That is a gratuitous comment, and is parallelism as well.

We are excellent at identifying mass shooters, as we catch almost all of them ex post facto, which is what we are talking about with fraudsters.

Nonsense! They’ve identified 25 of the last three mass shooters.

There is fraud everywhere the federal government spends money. It definitely compounds with spending levels.

The non-fraud spending problem revolves around campaign donations to get elected and re-elected. Companies donate big money because they get special favors regarding legislation. That's where you get 100 subpoints in a bill that looks like a simple 'yes' or 'no' issue.
The Dems offered a solution in the 1980s. Just ban coporate donations and let the public get all their campaign info from our trusted media. The NYT and network TV will give you daily info. Totally unbiased.
