Tulane and JMU while being great in the G5 just dont belong in these games.

Yeah it's kinda like watching Nebraska against a good team.

Why are all these "the G5 shouldn't be in the playoffs" arguments just now coming up? Were y'all unaware of how this worked until the last two weeks?

Not nearly as bad as retards need to stop calling everything they don’t like DEI.

Both these games are a waste of time.

They lost by 22 to UTSA what did you expect
Boise State was left out of the BCS entirely in 2010 by losing in overtime to a Colin Kaepernick led Nevada team. They got no mulligan

The G5 teams have no business here. These are the games the P4 teams open the season with as tune up games. They've got no place occupying championship contending slots in a 12 team playoff.

That’s probably because there wasn’t a 12 team playoff in 2010

I guess what im saying is the bar should be higher
Losing a conference game by 22 to a team that went 6-6 should make your auto bid null and void
Im all for letting in unbeaten teams like 2017 UCF or teams like Boise State last year who lost one game on the road by a point to the #1 team

Tulane looks better than Tennessee did last year

being great in the G5 just dont belong in these games.

The problem is as usual with college football is they are short sighted. The whole top 5 conference champs i’d argue really goes back to even before the BCS. The big conferences at the time all had deals for their champ to go to one of the Big NYD Bowls. B1G/Pac10 to Rose SEC to Sugar Big8 Orange and SWC Cotton. With the BCS the conference winners were all guaranteed a BCS Bowl if not in the CCG. Now I believe they don’t want to give up the stupid CCG so they keep auto bids for conference winners even though it really doesn’t make sense in an era with 2 major and 2 semi major conferences with 16-18 teams and no divisions. This year it bit them on the arse I personally find it hilarious. But a stipulation that the top conference winners have to be ranked in the top 15 would be better

It's the definition of DEI.
Diversity: Give more conferences a spot.
Equity: Level the playing field for programs with lesser budgets.
Inclusion: No matter who you are, your school has a chance to playoff too.

Losing a conference game
Should have to win your conference or a conference game to be in. Duke should be in over Notre Dame.

Looking at the 2010 BCS rankings TCU who was in the MWC at the time did win the Rose and fits your 2017 UCF standard. Boise at 9 still makes it, actually I think the top 12 would all be in, top 5 conference winners Auburn, Oregon, TCU, Wisconsin get byes and Oklahoma is the 5th was #7.

Tulane is the best team AND program in their state so that has to count for something at least.

I doubt they’re better than LSU

I don't even understand the logic of having teams like JMU and Tulane in the CFP. This entire thing was driven by money. The ratings can’t reflect this being a good decision.
Imagine if Texas were playing Oregon and Notre Dame were in Oxford right now. That's the type of stuff that gets eyeballs.
