It's not a terrible roster. There's deficiencies for sure. The truth is It's a terribly coached team the past 4+ years learning and developing bad habits. Borrego is slowly getting them to break those habits.

It’s more of a “ok” roster, but that should be better than 6 wins

You saw it offensively in the first half. The Rockets should have never went to half with a 20 point lead. The Pels missed some good looks early on then stopped pushing pace & the ball movement started lacking. Defense lacked effort. In the 2nd half, the energy picked up defensively lead by Herb. Once that occurred, the pace picked up offensively as well as the ball movement. In the past, Willie lead teams would have just faltered & kept doing the same negative things all game long.

Think about this.
Cs the Bulls queen didn’t see the floor in the 4th and fears was the man.
Today, Fears didn’t play at all in the 4th and queen never came out.
That’s coaching that’s matchups and playing the hot hand.
Willie was so fricking predictably terrible. Discreet ever once deviate from his stupid arse pre determined lineups other than to start Kira for the first time all season in the playoffs? Lol

Willie never made other teams adjust to us. Teams always knew what lineups we would roll out. Borrego rolling with the hot hands threw them off. Him doubling KD and forcing Amen to make plays was genius. Amen made a couple shots but also missed a bunch and turned the ball over.
We know Gayle isn’t going to go spend a ton of money on a coach. Borrego is probably the best coach in our price range. He’s an actual X’s and O’s coach instead of a vibes coach like Willie
