I’ve seen some one-off threads with random Christmas movies that didn’t get much traction, and thought we could potentially use this thread. If there is already something similar, I apologize. I checked the first couple of pages and didn’t see one.

1. The Ref - may not be off the beaten path for most, but it was for me. It kind of felt like a Home Alone of sorts for adults.

2. Nothing Like The Holidays - mix of Christmas cheer, family drama, and Latin culture about a Puerto Rican family in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. I enjoyed it.

The Thin Man - this classic first installment of the William Powell/Myrna Loy series, based on the Dashiell Hammett characters, takes place at Christmas time; full of memorable performances and a pretty fair mystery

Remember the Night - 1939 bittersweet romance with Fred MacMurray as a big city public defender who is forced by circumstances to take petty criminal Barbara Stanwyck home to the folks for the holidays; one of those rare films that you honestly don’t know how its going to turn out in the end

Black Christmas (1974)

Possibly the greatest slasher movie ever made and definitely the greatest Christmas horror film.

Santa Claus: The Movie

I remember when this came out in 1985. McDonald's promoted the hell out of it and had in-your-face product placement in the movie. I can remember getting a book about the movie in happy meals, and seeing it on television a couple of times. Then it disappeared. After a year or two, I don't recall ever seeing it on television again. It's probably been close to 40 years since I've seen it. It was bad, but there are worse Christmas movies out there, I'm sure, that get airtime.

These also may not be off the beaten path, but Mrs. White and I really enjoyed The Holdovers and All is Bright, ironically both with Paul Giamatti.

I thought The Holdovers was almost an instant classic. Both on Prime, but may be available elsewhere.
