So you’re telling me an 18 year old legal adult can’t drive across the country and sleep in a hotel?

He also can’t buy alcohol, but he can die in service to his country.

I mean, I'm sure there is some level of hotel that will rent to him.

Don't think it is a law. Just good business sense. Like not renting sports cars to people under 25.

I know a guy who can get your son a laminated 4” x 2” little card that he can show them and it’ll allow them to check in. Nothing illegal.

Let me know if you need his email

It is. In America, private companies like hotels get set their own rules for who they can admit.

I think laquinta and some others do allow.

Something about if they have liquor/beer on premises they have to be 21...

If the desk person is knowledgeable, they can point you to hotels that allow younger check-in.

That’s a YOU problem. Not America problem.

It’s been like this for at least past 25 years since before I was 21.

In the early 00's there were a lot of nice condos that me and friends tried renting for spring break or summer trips on the gulf coast Florida area, and you had to be 25. So we were relegated to shittier places. This has been a thing for a long time. It's not so much they care about the room getting torn up, but getting complaints from other more mature guests.
