Why is Curne or Thomas leaving because of Brad Davis?

Unless you follow Brad Davis to his next destination you’re getting a new coach regardless wherever you go. Why not stay, both of them are probably our starting guards next year. Man our roster retention sucks look at the 23 class omg.

Leaving because of Brad Davis and not staying to be a part of a Lane Kiffin offense is like choosing to leave the beautiful beaches of Hawaii to go see Holly beach in South Louisiana. It’s astronomically stupid.

As bad as our offensive line was, there were some serious issues in that OL room. The worst part was, they didn’t get any better as the season went on. That’s a massive problem.

Maybe they want to be able to choose their coach as opposed to having it chosen for them. Maybe they want to go to a coach who they know wants them because they offered them money rather than hoping the new coach likes them and that they will fit in the system.

And fishing for money

Kiffin recruited him out of high school and he didn’t join him then, maybe he just doesn’t like Kiffin.

but he liked Brad Davis? BK? I'm calling BS there

I'm not even sure the entire OL hasn't been told to go packing, as crazy as that seems.

But LSU has the biggest NIL pot and a championship coach that has never won a championship, it can’t be that.

Who cares? The OL was straight trash. Every single one of them can go.

Or maybe curne is a player he doesn’t want. Nobody knows. Wouldn’t be the first player to enter fishing for higher pay from current team.

nope, just your average high school football player back in the day. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that that OL was the worst in school history and each player on it, outside of the Center Moore, was laughably bad and did not improve all year.

We always say that (let them go) but that’s the problem and it always bits us in the butt. We said let Lance Heard go and look at our line now. The line was trash because of this thinking. We would be SO MUCH better if we had Heard this year. Roster retention is the biggest problem, we need to be more forward thinking and keep these guys for the future instead of running to the portal. After this year we need to back away from the portal and focus on high school and roster retention. Spend the money there.

They can enter the portal, see if they get an offer from another school. They might have an offer from another school, take it. Some have the option, test the portal, if they don’t get a better offer, return to LSU.
As of late, within the last 5-6 years, you can count on one hand, maybe on a few fingers, the former LSU players that have left and done well.
Jack Bech
Lance Heard
The Johnson Brothers( went to aTm, now at North Carolina) along with his Brother that plays TE.

Can’t think of too many that have really done well.

Remember Heard want LSU to move Will Campbell, so he could start?
How good was Will, was selected by the Patriots fourth overall in the 2025 NFL draft.
Remember, on most teams, the backup, thinks they are way better than the starter.

Why do yall think these kids decision to leave is always about money? ...but when a kid comes to LSU, you think its for other reasons.

He was 5-star on some services... so you do know Curne probably had a nice NIL package already in place, right?

A lot of kids are more connected to the position coach than the school... and thats okay. I dont think Pickett would be here without Raymond.

Anyone ever take a look at the OL Lane had at Ole Miss? I have, basically none of his starters had a higher rating coming out of high school, as our OL. Could it be the player development, Lanes system, something else?
Ole Miss is 11-1
LSU 7-5
Draw your own conclusions.

That heard wanted Will to move I really don’t buy. I believe he told BK that to show how competitive he is but not actually meaning it. Lance and Will played together there whole life plus in high school Will was the left tackle and lance was the right and had no problems. I believe the situation was mostly money related and I believe we should have paid it. Not paying it cost us way more. BOTTOM LINE KEEP YOUR HIGH SCHOOL RECRUITS AT ALL COST PERIOD. Kirby ain’t letting his go without a fight neither is Ryan Day.
