Some people are saying that ULL’s Coach Desormeaux is the originator of the “6-7” meme.

He’s not taking anyone, anywhere. Good talent but can’t process at college level. That’s if he plays next year.

Thanks for the attention.

He was a lazy hire and I don’t think he’ll be here next year.

I wouldn’t bank on that. You gave him a five year extension just last year and the athletic department is under a financial microscope from the state.

That isn’t a buyout you want to afford either. Sure you can probably make it happen but the other programs on campus would greatly suffer if the athletic department had to fork over a three million dollar buyout after next season.

Probably will, no money to hire anyone else, and he just signed a new 5-year deal at the end of last season.

Wonder if the governor will complain about the tax payer money being spent on this buyout.

They aren't firing Des

Someone needs to tell him to get another OC and actually let him call plays
he should learn from Napier's tenure at Florida
Put your ego aside and worry about being HC

Yet for some reason they gave him an extension. A guy that absolutely nobody is gonna hire away

This makes no sense. Why would ULL reward someone for non-winning records. I don't follow ULL so maybe he had a winning season in there somewhere. I'm just going off the info in the post.

He has a winning record 29-25 (19-13). He was extended after a 10-4 season last season (10-2 regular season with a 7-1 Sun Belt record). Kind of a knee-jerk reaction, I guess they thought he had turned a corner, and they were back to the Napier salad days.

Who is UL going to hire to replace him? Everyone wants a new coach but don't have an answer as to who should take his place. If you don't follow the Ragin Cajuns your opinion could taken with a grain of salt. Billy left him with a depleted team in 2022 with the transfer portal and this year the injury bug killed their chances of a winning season. Making a bowl game after starting 2-6 is pretty impressive imo. And lets leave out that 10 win season he had last year

It's a head scratcher, but supposedly the renewal was written into his contract based on winning a certain amount of games or making conference championship game last year.

Hiring him and not being able to afford to get rid of him and his mediocrity is quite the pickle

They only hired him because his last name is Desormeaux

Agree.

We don’t have the money to pay the buyout unless some big dog is willing to step up to fund the buyout, next coaching search, and new head coach and staff. So unless that happens, considering our current budget situation, Dez’s seat for next year is as safe as Cignetti’s at Indiana.

Best case scenario is Dez has a self reflection moment and hires a real OC whom he allows to call plays. Or promote Munioz and hope he learned a bit while working with Ensminger and Joe Brady at LSU.

You damn well bet he would if it got him on Fox News and Pat McAffee.
