Serious question. Is Bluesky still a thing?

Too lazy to look into it. Has it taken hold or is it fading?

Yes. That’s where Tboy gets all of his ideas

I would not suggest that tboy would or could formulate ideas but rather grab the pretty shiny thing that he sees

Read a news article a few days ago, where a 'blue' state administrator reported some news over Bluesky.
It setoff my, now known as, Reiner alarm.

I'm an old and not familiar with the social media.
Real questions that I'll toss here for consideration...
1)...How many users on BS could possibly be bogus computer/AI driven accounts?
2)...Can BS or any social media determine bogus accounts and terminate them?
3)... If bogus accounts can be made and automated to perform activities, do these clicks and contributions count towards advertising billing compensation? If yes, is that fraud and people need to be in jail?
4)...Shouldn't social media companies be forced to prove or provide documentation that all accounts are legitimate so that monetization is legitimate? Does our federal government regulate this?
Edit, I see two downvotes right away, seriously why?

Apparently they are haemorrhaging both new users and active users last time I was bored enough to research it.
What a silly name too. "WE WANT OUR OWN BLUE PLATFORM THAT NO ONE GOES ON!"

Half or more.

2)...Can BS or any social media determine bogus accounts and terminate them?
Yes, but they're designed to do the opposite, which is narrative reinforcement. Reality is inconvenient.

Good question. I don't know the answer.

Probably, but how to do so?

If anything, our federal government ignores this. And, since the FedGov has historically been on the side of the FedGov and no one else, I wouldn't want them policing and regulating socials. They do enough damage already.

Welcome to tPT.

Serious answer: yes, it's a thing. It never took off though and X is still where news breaks, companies have their brand accounts, etc. It (Bluesky) is likely going to wither away.
Also both Bluesky and X are overrun by bots.

No need to be THAT lazy about looking into it. A simple question for your browser: "Is Bluesky usage declining" provides the following AI assembly of information-
quote:
AI Overview
Yes, Bluesky has seen a significant decline in user activity and engagement after initial massive growth spikes, especially following the 2024 U.S. election, with some reports showing user numbers shrinking from peak registrations and activity levels dropping considerably, creating a perception of users leaving due to it becoming a left-leaning echo chamber and lacking features, though it still retains a core base.
Evidence of Decline/Stagnation:
Activity vs. Registration: While total registered users grew (reaching 30-38M by early 2025), active users lagged, with some analyses showing millions inactive despite high sign-ups.
Engagement Drop: A Pew study noted a 50% fall in engagement from its November 2024 peak, with users posting less frequently than on X.
Data: By late 2025, some reports showed declining average daily users and a significant drop in mobile app activity year-over-year.
Reasons for User Exodus/Disengagement:
Echo Chamber: Users felt it became politically homogenous, dominated by progressive voices, leading to intense negativity for opposing views.
Lack of Features: No DMs, weak monetization, and similarity to early Twitter/X led to boredom.
Hostility: Perceived rudeness, hate, and "left-wing discourse" drove some away.
Competition: Many users migrated to Bluesky from X but didn't fully abandon X; they just stopped using it, or migrated elsewhere, failing to build a strong, diverse network.
Overall: Bluesky experienced huge growth, but its momentum slowed, and many users who flocked to it as a Twitter alternative found it lacked the engagement and diversity they wanted, leading to a drop-off from its peak user activity, according to analyses from mid-to-late 2025.

There are plenty of phony accounts on various sites. A lot are from foreign countries, including intelligence services. Most of them tend to be right wing and post ridiculous shite…
