As a teen and early 20s in the 90s, these two places were magical. I dint really like either anymore. Mid 40s now.

Is is just that I’m old or has the taste and quality just gone down that much?

Taco bell tastes the same to me now. You are just getting old on this one.

Yea and the $7 box is the best value out there imo.

Chicken Chalupa Supreme (alone is like $6)
Taco
5 layer burrito (no nacho cheese, light sour cream, add red sauce - it’s like a suped up bean burrito with meat)
Nachos
Drink

I worked at Papa's in the 90's. I still eat it today. I haven't noticed a downgrade in quality, but perhaps the downgrades were so slow and gradual that I don't notice.

You can swap for a steak chalupa for $0.20

Can also sub chips for cinnamon twists.

It still tastes like $3 to fill me up, but not $12.

Way way down. PJs is total trash now and Tbell is really mediocre. I got to Tbell occasionally to relive my old days but it just aint the same.

The chicken quesadillas at Taco Bell to me taste even better now than they did back in the 90’s.

Papa John's has really gone downhill.

Used to be really good in the 90's.

Yeah I feel like PJs is thinner now. I feel like they used to have the toppings under the cheese or something and had more cheese.

Around 08 for my Spanish 3 class we would have fiestas every so often. I was able to get 20 soft shell tacos for around $25 bucks. Hate to see what that would cost now.

$36. Not really bad compared to how much other things have inflated in that time.

Never really cared for either back then. Papa John's was bland. Taco Bell was drunk food at 3:30am. Would only order Nachos Bell Grande. The tacos were chintzy and the meat was 50% breadcrumbs. The burritos were pitiful and mostly gas producing beans.

If you are in North Texas go to Taco Casa. It was founded by a disgruntled former Taco Bell franchisee who was disappointed about the direction Taco Bell was going. The menu and ingredients are literally just the Taco Bell menu from the 80s. It's way better than Taco Bell.

Taco Casa.

The amount of cheese on their tostada is insane, but it’s so good.
