Trump tariff revenue hits $200 billion.

The United States has collected more than $200 billion in tariffs this year as a result of new duties imposed by President Donald Trump since the beginning of 2025, the Customs and Border Protection agency said Monday.
The tally comes as the Supreme Court considers arguments that the new tariffs are illegal.
The $200 billion tally is only for the new tariffs, not for tariffs imposed during Trump’s first term in the White House. Those earlier tariffs do not face legal challenges, as the new tariffs do.
Trump earlier this year unilaterally imposed, without congressional authorization, what he calls reciprocal tariffs on imports from most of the world’s nations.
He also imposed “fentanyl tariffs” on products from Canada, China and Mexico, in retaliation for what he said was those countries’ failure to stem the flow of that deadly narcotic into the United States.

I remember when Republicans opposed new taxes.

It’s enough to cover the annual medicare waste and fraud costs.

Well that’s a consolation for the increased prices of just about everything except gasoline, I guess.

Yay, more taxes!
Were you ever mad when we had tariffs imposed on us and we just accepted it?

Yeah, I was hoping he would open that secret drawer in the white house and have 27 trillion fall out for us.
Was the economic policy by his opponent more likely to get results?

reduces the deficit to $1.7 trillion

What are the positive economic results from the tariffs?
Don’t tout the relatively negligible, and dubious, revenue claim—what’s it doing for the average person? Is the production of consumer products being onshored, or is everything simply more expensive as companies universally pass on the import costs to consumers?

Nope, if other countries want to tax their citizens on U.S. goods coming into their countries, that is their prerogative.
I already pay federal income tax, Ponzi Scheme tax, medicare tax, sales tax, gas tax, property tax , dividend tax, capital gains tax, interest income tax, state income tax. Every penny I earn and spend is taxed, why should we have yet another tax on goods coming into the country?
I can understand tariffs being used in order to protect certain industries that are tied to national security and detaching ourselves from our greatest geopolitical rival in the 21st century, but we should be violently slashing government spending and taxes, both at the federal and state and local level.

Why would anybody be mad that another country charged their citizens to import our products lol

Tariffs are 100% in the presidential power wheelhouse....the president is totally responsible for the economy, so he should have the authority to manage the economy, and tariffs are absolutely in play, IMO!

Unbelievable that we have any American whatsoever to try to deflect and get rid of the tariffs in the name of unconstitutional!
The only thing unconstitutional and treasonous is the assholes in DC that have sold us out to foreign countries so the savings for their countries can boomerang back into offshore accounts for said assholes.
It should be “fair and free trade” OR if not, then you charge them what they charge us.
Why is that hard for these leftists assholes to Figure it out.
In what world is it fair for a country to charge us extremely higher %’s and we don’t charge them al all.
They’ve been raping us over the coals.
