I made an online purchase for a TV last night. Their site said ready to pick up in 1 hr. I show up at 10 this morning. Cashier said it’s not ready for pick up, and that she doesn’t know when it will be. There’s a 4-1 employees to customers ratio at the time. I told her I can go grab it (20 ft away) on the floor, and she can scan it. She said that would make everything more inefficient. She told me to grab the TV, pay for the new one, and then call Best Buy to cancel the first order.

So as I’m paying for the 2nd one, she’s asking me questions about providing my phone number(they already have it), warranty plans, giving a donation. No to all 3. Transaction was done, and I felt a relief to get out of the store.

I remember being excited to go Best Buy 4-5 years ago. I guess Amazon took the life out of them.

You used critical thinking skills and worked through the question.

It’s a society-wide epidemic of suckage, not just Best Buy

They pulled this on me before with headphones. It sucks.

I’m assuming it doesn’t help their store numbers like you going her route.

I got a tv on Black Friday in store a couple years ago. Was told to come back in an hour and it would be ready. Come back and still not ready. Give it a few more hours, come back and was told it still wasn’t ready. The back door was open and I could see the exact tv sitting there. I tell the guy and he says something along the lines of “well I don’t think that’s yours.” I tell him to double check or I’m canceling the order. Was back at home with the tv in 20 minutes and haven’t been back since.

turns out 'Best' wasn't quite accurate.

Especially with a little known company called Amazon.

Even if it says ready in 1 hour I still wait for confirmation it's actually ready for pickup. I've never had this issue though.

Good luck with delivery.

I ordered one on cyber Monday. They told me they couldn’t deliver until Friday. Not great, but on Friday no one ever showed and no one ever called. I tried calling the store, but it goes to corporate. No one could help. I went into the store and no one could help because it was a 3rd party delivery. So I did a return.

They don't have any national brick and mortar competition.

During Covid they pretty much shifted their model towards all online sales. Their stores are basically just Amazon warehouses in this point but without the efficiency and manpower.

They suck

Was in one last night, it was busy but I seemed to be the only one buying. The worker I dealt with was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable.

I remember when the store felt like a 14:1 employee to customer ratio. Good to see they've downsized. Felt like you couldn't turn at the end of an aisle without three employees waiting to haunt you.
