This is totally a vent, first world problem, post...

It seems I always have to end a round early when I'm on pace for a really low / best score. It's like some type of karma. 3x this year I've been on pace for a really low if not my lowest round and get pulled off the course by either a work emergency, pick a kid up from school, etc.

Happened today. Had to vent. Was +1 thru 12 and had to shut it down.

Do you own your company? If no then finish your round.

Kids can stay at school longer, you never leave the course on a heater.

I've had a couple rounds this year ended by downpour when I was on a run.

Makes me feel better about not playing well lately.

I did hole out for an eagle on #1 this week.

I did not back that up.

2 of the best rounds I've ever had have been ended by darkness. -6 through 10 and -4 through 15. I did get all the way into the clubhouse with a 62, one time. But a lot of times, my best golf comes during evening 9's, where I'm not even worried about a score, bc I know I don't have time for 18. If I know I have all day, I'll generally shoot something like a 34 on the front and a 43 on the back, or 43 on front and 34 on back. I'm generally a 9 hole player. It's hard to stay consistent mentally for 4-6 hours on 18 holes.

You need to start keeping your phone on do-not-disturb while you’re playing golf.

only happened once, but I know it will happen more as my kids get older and my company continues to grow. I have never been +1 through 12 though, that would be hard to walk away from.

The eagle on 8 had to have you lit. Take it you holed out your approach?

This is actually how I set precedent in my marriage. My wife is no longer allowed to call me when I am playing golf. If anything happens, she can figure it out.

I was set to shoot my best round ever and go under par and she decides to call me on hole 15 and start a bunch of shite. Finished out 6 over.

I have yet to sniff another round where all aspects of the bag clicked in the same round like that day.

I'm dealing with this right now. I wont shoot a 34, but I can card a 40 only playing 9. I can also card a 40-44 front or back to counter that with a 50.

my 2026 goal is put a little more effort into the mental aspect of "pre-shot swing thoughts" prior to just stepping up and ripping. when I slow everything down, its looks like I know what I'm doing, then after 6-7 holes of that I get comfortable and get out of that thought process that was helping. seems so easy to apply, yet, its hard to do for me for 18 holes.

Drove right up to edge of front bunker. 60 degree landed 3 ft to hole and rolled dead center

I'm far from a good golfer. Have been struggling as of late. Yesterday I had time to play 9. I hit every fairway. I had 3 really bad iron shots, but recovered quickly on two of them. Usually when it goes bad, it just gets worse. But yesterday, a bad shot was typically countered quickly. For instance, I rolled into the bunker on a par 3, the club hung up in wet sand and I ended up in another bunker on the other side of the green. But the next bunker shot ended up 18" from the hole for a bogey vs. a double or triple. If (a big if) I could have kept it up, I would have been in the low 80's when I've been struggling to break 90....But I couldn't get out to the course until 3:00

God has a sense of humor.

Sometimes it’s a really dark twisted one.
