I'm returning home for a studio feature film that will be based out of BR starting next month. Not ideal for having to bring most of the crew in from NOLA, but opens up and interesting opportunity for someone in BR that might want to break into or continue in the business as a production assistant (in the Art Department). I am interested in someone who genuinely wants to work and learn. No real experience needed. Generally, these jobs are filled by 20 somethings who might have gone to art school or studied GFX etc. Not a requirement of course, but helps if they have a similar background.

This is a decently paid gig and I like getting new people involved, so if you know someone that might be interested in joining the circus that is filmmaking, come forward. It's a full time, 50 hour a week job .... and not an internship. Why here? I would rather start in the TD universe than say traditional social media or god help us -- Craigslist.

Just a thought and wanted to throw it out there just in case a really good candidate is out there.

This is very cool, but you may want to get the OK from Chicken before going further with it. He's usually not too thrilled about people marketing/soliciting on the site without permission or going through the proper channels. Just FYI.

Will Sydney Sweeny or Margot Robbie be on set? If so, I will move down and take the position.

Good luck. It’s sad to see the current state of film in Louisiana. I got out a few years ago. A few of my buddies are still trying to grind it out but it’s tough.

That's a cool offer/opportunity for someone.

Honestly the film industry sounds to me but I'm a stick in the mud and OP definitely seems legit from seeing him post over the years.

In an industry where it's probably difficult to discern sometimes what is a real opportunity and what isn't, this could be a rarity and hopefully someone grabs it.

It's like this all across the US though not as dry as Louisiana has been. This has been my career since graduating college but I'm considering making a move. This past year was terrifying in a way I can't go through again. I had to take a gig in California over the summer because it got so slow in Georgia. Even worked a tier 0 project on the Alabama coast and nobody works those unless you're absolutely desperate. I'm just not sure what other profession I'm qualified for that could match the money I've made in the film industry. Broadcast stations pay shite.

And it shorten even worse. Nobody stays in that industry anymore unless they've already been in it 20-30+ yrs and actually make decent $. Anyone hired by a local station over the last 15byrs probably hasn't had a raise in a decade and make peanuts, and now work 3 ppls jobs.

The only other real alternative to make decent pay is corporate marketing world if you have high level directing/editing/shooting skills. It's a soulless, hollow hack world, but it's much slower paced than film/tv/news business, but also comes with so many idiots and Office Space types. Far, far from the film business "circus."

It hasn't been an easy road for the locals in La. ... and most of the country for that matter, but things are picking up again. This is by far the biggest budgeted feature in the state in a few years with some well known filmmakers, so a cool opportunity. I heard about it a few months ago and thought it might be fun to return home to do something as it's been 6 years since I started Rebel Ridge in NOLA and then the pandemic pushed it. I wasn't around to help finish it.

The job is more of an office/ field position. NO on set work, which is a real grind. And I do not overwork my team. Pay is actually pretty good relatively speaking for an entry level assistant job. If any of the TD MTV board family has a family member or someone that might be really interested in this (for the experience and not necessarily the cash), have them:

Look for the supervising art director name on IMDB for How to Rob a Bank or White Lotus S3 (my last two projects), then follow me on Instagram and DM me for some info. I will put them with someone in my group for a potential interview, etc.

This isn't something I usually engage in, but since we are coming to BR .. I thought it would be cool to bring on a local with a real interest in the process/business.

And sorry Chicken if this is some sort of no no, but I'm not looking for pizza delivery drivers for my new chain. This is a more specialized PSA to some fellow MTV board members who might have a kid eager to do something in entertainment. PLUS, you still owe for me for the Gleason / DJ story break anyway.

you know it .... i prefer the 40's when I can get away with it!
I open every new set, grab a breakfast burrito and onto the next one.

The shooting crew has it rough with the nights and long hours. I don't envy it, but certainly respect it. I did a big commercial in China a few months ago and had to be on set for filming. I did not care for that at all.

I'd probably take the job if it were 10 yrs ago just for the hell of it, but alas, life happens.

Good luck on the project. Ijist being in the art dept for a week would be a great time.

It is not, but a major studio and accomplished director. Also, easily found on google.

Look up a few posts, he says how.

My neighbor's son is just getting started in the field, and may be interested. I will pass the info along.
