The only congressman that tried to stop the foreign aid grift was Thomas Massie.

This is no different than USAID. Not only are these funds being used on things you wouldn’t approve of, they are actively used against your interests. You think people would learn

His committee amendments did exactly that, end military aid to BOTH Ukraine and Israel. And he gets credit for trying.
Which is basically a poison pill to guarantee it will never make it to vote. The status quo will be maintained.
I'm ok with SELLING them arms, but gifts are a different matter. As for Israel, at least we get something back in return (intel, partnership, etc.) but the 'at what cost' question is legit. Ukraine is a beggar destined to always be under Russia's influence (it is the historical home of the Rus, NOT the Slavs) and will never repay us directly or indirectly.

This applies to Massie. You'd think someone with Massie's pedigree would actually learn how to be an effective legislator. Constantly pissing off your own party is not the smart way to get anything done.
If every congressman was like Massie, then the whole world would be unicorns and rainbows. But that's not the world we live in. And pretending it is is foolish.
It's like all the Ukraine supporters who think Russia should pull out of the occupied territories. It's just not going to happen, so you need to start negotiations at a realistic point.

Of course Rand and Massie are right on much of this stuff.
But they also take performative stands all the time instead of using political capital carefully to actually make meaningful dents in this stuff.
They'd rather get credit for being the permanent opposition all of the time and never making any actual impact, than for being the grumbling team player most of the time and occasionally making a small (but real) impact.
Just how it is.

That post was about Massie trying to pass amendments so he could vote yes on the NDAA.
His amendments were rebuked by Mike Johnson so he voted nay.

I get it, but when you're alienated and not capable of building any alliance and you have no meaningful/serious organizational backing (the LP is a joke) - it's performative in the real world.

Pretty sure Trump, Elon and DOGE identified usaid and stopped the foreign grift. Last I knew Congress gave themselves a raise and haven’t fixed Obamacare.

To get the legislation passed to release the Epstein files Massie got pummeled by the administration and their influencers. But he kept appealing to the people and eventually force Congress to pass his (and others) legislation 427-1 in the House and 99-0 in the Senate. In this particular example his performative stance became substance.

So you’re saying that because Massie didn’t vote the way you wanted on this legislation you are going to perpetually pillow bite any future legislative position he takes even when you agree with him?
