An Arizona taco chain was forced to close seven of its restaurants after dozens of its workers were detained by ICE.

Taco Giro, which operates nine locations in the state and one in Mexico, lost about 10 percent of its staff after ICE agents raided their homes.

Cesar Rodriguez, director of operations for eatery, confirmed the seven closures to the Tucson Sentinel, though three have since reopened.

quote:

Forty-six workers were swept up in the raids, which were part of an operation by the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies.

'Basically, they corralled everyone in the homes where they were living, which was a couple of houses,' Rodriguez told the publication.

'And they came into the establishment to verify documentation and some questioning items what they were investigating on and pretty much that was it.'

quote:

He described the chain as a 'mom and pop' restaurant, and said the owners never had the money to afford E-Verify — a system that verifies the employment eligibility of workers.

When employees were hired, they were required to provide a copy of their identification along with other paperwork proving their right to work, Rodriguez said.

E-Verify is required by all businesses in the state of Arizona. They fought the law and the law won.

As always real Americans are the true victims here. All the tacos were missing out.

E-Verify is free, its a website where you type in critical identifiers of a potential hire and then it kicks back if its a match (social/name) or if there are red flags....

What are they talking about?

Yawn

Might want to consider following the law next time. And why isn’t the owner held accountable for hiring said illegals?

2 homes? Yikes. Bet the neighbors aren't sad to see them go.

Well, with 7 locations, I am sure they didn't have a computer with internet access.

I loved the part of the story where they apparently rounded up over 40 people by just surrounding a few houses.

And like said above, in a number of states, its the law... No clue why it isn't mandatory nationwide.

The feds should target the business and the banks that finance them. Hold these entities accountable and the flow of illegal labor will stop.

The racist Hispanic neighbors probably called ice.

Oh that's extremely common, assuming the 2 houses have 3 bedrooms apiece that's 7 tacos packed per bedroom. In the world of illegals that's rookie numbers.

For decades, raids like this have been common in California. Hotel chains suffered greatly. You could see the roaches scattered as immigration moved down the street. My Dad oversaw remodeling of Motel 6’s. When I visited, you would see a wave of housekeeping and construction workers start leaving.

Solution? Learn to manage. The owner’s of these taco stands should take a class on management or get off their lazy butts and work for a few days.

You know why Santa Anna attacked the Alamo with 5,000 men?

He only had two cars.

Now someone tell us how we’re not being replaced?

If all these places are being shut down due to illegals now leaving or going into hiding.
