It still is a fireable that Dumars traded for the 13th overall pick by sending over a pick that will overwhelming likely have the best odds to be the 1st overall pick.

That's terrible value no matter how you look at it.

There's literally zero chance that the Hawks turn the trade down if it is top 5 protected. Because getting the 6th-10th pick is still good value for turning over a mid-1st pick.

If you can't understand that, then you're as dumb as Dumars.

I want to stop seeing posts about Dumars being "vindicated" for making the Queen trade.

It's not the gotcha people think it is.

Maybe they are tied to the never ending "the trade will never be good no matter what" crowd.

Not sure why people can't see that both things can be true.

It can be a bad trade that works out.

If I go all in on poker before the flop with a non suited 8, 2, it's not a smart move. It's not just not smart, it's really dumb. But, there is a slim chance that two eights come out on the flop and I win the hand. It wasn't a smart movie, but it worked out.

Hopefully that's where we are. I am not going to give Dumars credit for making a dumb decision on something with a 1% chance of working out like it needs to but I'm also not going to be mad that Queen turns out (hopefully) to be great and it causes you to forget the trade/not be crippled by it.

To be clear, I'm not mad that Queen is good with a chance to be a baby Jokic.

I'm just sick of seeing people say "great trade Dumars" every time Queen has a good game.

Ok well let me clear it up for me, and i assume most people.

Dumars did that. We believe he probably could have put protections but we dont know that for sure. We cant undo that. Nor do we have the ability to fire Dumars personally. Queen is really good and we would like to be able to enjoy him without that being saddled with bellyaching about the trade for his entire career. We are going to move on becuase....what else is there to do.

Then, and I'm not addressing you directly on this because I have no idea if you're guilty of this or not, stop bringing up the trade after every good game from Queen.

Also, we do know Dumars could've gotten protections on the pick... because that's how business in the NBA is done.

Yeah I still don’t see how you trade 2 first rounders (possibly a lottery pick) for the 13th pick…

I’m so glad we got Queen with though… Maybe you would trade those picks in hindsight depending how everyone turns out… but on paper when you remove Queen… it’s crazy that someone stupid enough to do that can be in charge of an NBA franchise.

I’m glad he made the trade

I like having Queen on our team. In a long sea of dogshitt, Queen is at least a cherry on top

The great play would have been trading a player to move up and we keep our pick.

Maybe if he offered up Herb to a team, they’d drop a few spots and we keep our unprotected pick.

Hawks were hot after Herb last year, maybe they do a Herb for DD swap and switch picks. They’d save money down the road not paying DD his contract.

The problem is that we dont know how it went down..

If Dumars called Atlanta and said "take our pick, whatever it is..", then yeah he should be thrown off the Algiers bridge

If he called and said I want that pick and ATL (who by the way had our lead scout in their draft room, who knew very well how much we liked Queen) insisted on no protections... its still a dumb trade but at least you can justify it as "we love our guy and we're gonna do what it takes to get him"

Personally I have no problem with the trade because any player worth being picked at the top of the lottery would never want to come to New Orleans anyway.. see Davis, A.; Williamson, Z.; Gordon, E. They'll just pout and fake soft tissue injuries for several years before demanding a trade...

If we could put Herb Jones' attitude into a lottery player with a better overall game, that would help us way more than some 'generational' star that gives you 70% for his entire time here

Your definition of “know” here is just a mislabeled assumption. You don’t know it. You think it.

There is no getting through to the people defending the trade. They just don’t understand lol

And there's nothing you can do to get through to people who won't accept that the trade is what it is and there's nothing you can do to change it.

To the point where you can't fully appreciate the historic play of these rookies. But instead will harp on the trade every time he does something amazing. Same shite different day.
