For basketball fans: Jordan vs. Shaq pregame in 1996

Ran across this and don't think I've ever seen this footage before — thought some old guys here like me might enjoy it.
I'm guessing Shaq is 23 or 24 here (and looks younger than that), but he absolutely schooled MJ in the paint.

Shaq could really move when he was younger/lighter

Since then the NBA has been on a slow steady slide.

If Shaq would have had the mental focus to take care of his body like Kobe Bryant he'd have been the GOAT.

Those wind breakers need a comeback

He would've been the GOAT if he had developed any type of shot. Hard to argue with his success though imposing his size/strength on teams. He also has freakishly large hands, even for his size, making it impossible to shoot normally with backspin.

Hadn’t seen this before either. Cool share

Is that the best 2 v 2 team of all time?
Has to be, right?

I remember this, it’s before the all star game.

Yeah, that's pretty amazing to watch.
Along those lines, that same year was the third iteration of "The Dream Team" in the Olympics. (Shaq was on the second FIBA version in '94.)
Foreign countries have mostly caught up in terms of some legit talent, but 30 years ago imagine China going up against 7'-1" David Robinson, Shaq, and Hakeem Olajuwon on the same team.
They lost 133–70, BTW.
It (barely) predates Shaq, but they say the closed-door practices of the 1992 Dream Team was the best basketball that's ever been played in the history of the sport — and nobody got to see it.

And all under the watch of LeBitch Blames. It’s unwatchable.

I see people always bring up something similar to this usually stemming from Kobe’s quote about Shaq but the truth is not many people at all had the obsession with basketball Kobe did. He lived, ate and slept basketball. Even the goat Jordan didn’t have Kobe’s obsession as he had other hobbies (golf, gambling and business). Shaq was still arguablythe most dominant player ever in the nba. 13 year’s averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds. He did fine

Super cool. First I’ve seen that.

As I’ve stated, the MOST athletic big man (in his early prime) the NBA has ever seen. Sure Wilt could jump out of the roof… but he didn’t have “guard-type” moves and run the fast break like SHAQ.

Wilt wasn't far off, if at all. The stunning part about him is that he had Shaq-like size and athleticism more than a decade before Shaq was born. Wilt would have been a star NBA Center in 2009, 50 years after he was drafted in 1959. A specimen like him in the NBA of 65 years ago was literally so unfair that they had to change the actual rules of the game. THAT is a GOAT.

Kobe said if he wanted to be. He would be the goat.

Switch Wilt and Shaq birth dates.
I would've LOVED to have seen Shaq abuse all.those 6-8 honkies with tape on their glasses like Wilt did.
During Wilt's time (especially early in his career) the NBA had whatever 5 total 7 footers?
During Shaqs whole career almost every team had MULTIPLE 7 footers.
