I'm drawing a complete blank on why he was our QB for that game.

Can someone refresh my memory?

Nuss was the only scholly QB on roster. He sat out to keep his RS.

Nuss showed us who he was and what he was all about. Our faults for not getting the hint

Which they have changed since then because of opt outs I think. Now you can play and not lose your redshirt... I think. Maybe. Or maybe I said this should have been the rule so many times I convinced myself they changed it

We didn't have a walk-on QB?

Starting Kirklin was certainly more fun though.

Max Johnson announced he was transferring after the A&M game, Nussmeier refused to play to preserve his redshirt, Brennan was hurt, and Tavion Faulk and Matt O'Dowd were the walk on QBs.

Brennan was still hurt, out for season before it ever got started
Max Johnson was going to the portal and unavailable

That only left us with 2 true freshman (Faulk, O'Dowd) walk ons and Garrett who was a true freshman and played in 4 games already and couldnt play in bowl game and still redshirt

Thats why Kirklin started, we literally really had no one to throw out there...true freshmen walk ons would never be considered for something like that

This is a bit ridiculous.

The coaching staff he signed with was being replaced. If he played in the bowl game he would have burned his RS...which meant that whether he stayed at LSU or went elsewhere he would have only had 3 years of eligibility instead of the 4 he got to maintain by not playing in that game...a game that was of no consequence regardless of the outcome.

I suspect at that time he wasn't 100% certain he was going to remain at LSU so he chose to make a decision to keep his options open.

Nuss gets shite on by you for making a logical decision. But what about Johnson, who started the A&M game and bailed immediately after. He could have stayed, but didn't. Or what about Brennan? He left the team in November to enter the portal. Nuss was the only scholarship QB who had something to lose (his RS year) by playing in that game.

Oh frick off with this shite. He absolutely made the right decision by not playing in that stupid, meaningless game and saving a year of eligibility.

Nuss has been a good Tiger. Most kids would've jumped ship when Jayden Daniels got to LSU but he stayed here for 5 years in an era when nobody does that anymore. He played hurt this year and deserves more respect that you people are giving him. I doubt he wanted to struggle and I'm pretty sure he gave it everything he has. There is my I'm a man I'm 40 rant.

You are a bitch. Nuss wasn't even close to the only issue that ruined 2025. The WR group stayed hurt and couldn't catch, the play calling was shite and the line couldn't block. Can't figure out how that all this falls on Nuss. Kid has done almost everything right as a Tiger.

Really strange that Hurley didn't want to play out the season and try to audition for a job next year. He didn't have anything to lose. No one is giving him a bag for next year

So in your estimation, Nussmeier should have played in a meaningless bowl game and forfeited an entire season?!? Are you really that stupid? Last question: did you feel the same way last year when LSU was undefeated out of the gate and he was throwing for a ton of yards? So you were really wishing it would be his last season and LSU would have no QB this year. Got it. Moron.
