If I’m CLK, this is what I would do as far as the QB situation goes

The main 2 concerns for the QB targets are Chambliss eligibility and Leavitt injury. If Chambliss gets another year you take him, and if Leavitt injury will take most of the 2026 season to heal, you get Leavitt as a back-up role for 2026 and to take over for 2027.
We’d be set for the next 2 years with Houston taking over in 2028.

Chambliss is the obvious primary target. If he is eligible, he's on the team.
You still need a fully heathy backup though so CKL will find another option.
Leavitt would possibly be a 3rd choice with the expanded #s but he will want ridiculous $$$ so I'm not sure he is worth that.
That being said in CLK I trust and I'm sure he will be on top of this. He will also have better insight into where Lavitt is on his recovery and what could be expected of him in addition to his potential.
As bad as the QB situation is now, I'm confident next year will be much better no matter the name on the jersey.

Leavett is100% asking top dollar and his coach seems happy to be done with him. Good friends of mine are close to that situation and Sam and his brother are a nightmare to deal with. Not sure the juice is worth the squeeze

Aside from Chambliss and Simmons, everyone is just guessing. I’m sure Kiffin and McDonald have had plenty of conversations about the path for this.

Sam's talent is not that good..flashy at times, but overall not what LSU needs and the injury means LSU is rolling the dice when it doesn't have to, LSU holds all the cards/bags, don't misplay them by paying Leavitt! Big mistake!

He’s not good enough to get with having that injury sorry.

Chambless will come here and the day prior to the first game the ncaa will find something wrong w his eligibility forcing him to sit out the first game. Seems like that happens every year to lsu.

Well good thing your not clk..

I don’t think any of those options are realistic.

All of this Leavitt won't play in 2026 is out of thin air
The timeline is he will be ready in May or June

Writing in a high school kid is wild to me.
HS QBs do not matter until they matter
QB evaluation is year to year. Projecting who your QB in 2028 is useless.
Stop sweating HS QBs!!!

I am sorry I do not see Houston being worth a shite at college level. He has Lindsey Scott written all over him and no way is even close to actually being 5'10" tall. Wouldn't be shocked if he's closer to 5'8".

Saban was a magician at working around these issues. Lane should absolutely consult with him.

Man I bet coach Kiffin is so relieved that you figured this out for him. Now he doesn't have to get to the admin building at 4am to figure this out and he can wait and go in after his hot yoga session.
