Holiday Reminder for the Politicos - the Federal Limit for Gifts to USPS Workers is $20

Here’s my annual reminder of the U.S. law limits on gifts for your USPS workers.
We typically give our letter carrier team a $20 gift card each (the federal limit; your states may have additional limits).
The Law:
U.S. letter carriers may accept (unsolicited) non-cash gifts worth $20 or less per occasion from a customer, with a $50 annual limit per year (5 C.F.R. § 2635.204(a)).
If over the limit, your letter carrier must return the gift or pay you its fair market value.
I still find it amazing that for 78¢ I can send a letter anywhere in the U.S. and have it hand-delivered to that person in around 3 days.

Try doing a wedding or other big event and enjoy the 10%-15% failure rate for delivery on your invitations. The invitations don't come back, they just disappear and the people never know.

Weren't you on here advocating for illegals to drop anchor babies yesterday?

Tipping postal workers may be one of the dumbest thoughts ever.
The pension they get at retirement is my tip to them.

And yet, they're $15B in debt, losing $6.2B this year alone. They're a destructive force upon the US taxpayer. The USPS is a shining example of why the private sector can do just about anything better than the public sector. It's a benchmark case against big government.

Yeah, and I bet he's not asking anyone to tip him every Christmas.

Like anything in life, it depends. We had a grumpy arse of a mailman who wouldn't even wave to us at our old place. Now we have a younger girl who is super friendly and is happy to do her job. She's getting a gift.

I swear you just try to post the most annoying liberal rage bait threads to flame this board.

They make $25+/hr on an $8/hr skillset. I tip the hell out of waitresses and bartenders becayse I want them to remember me and give me special attention. With the mailman I'm hoping for something approaching competence. I've never seen any reason for tipping them.

Are you going to tip Darth for his military service?

It's more productive to tip the garbage or yard crew.

How many private companies had to pre-fund their retirement funds 75 years in advance?

I have tipped the garbage crew when I threw something complicated on them. If I had anything complicated to mail I would 100% use UPS. In fact, I don't think I have ever mailed anything from my current house and I've been here since . 2013, I think. My wife probably has.

Sent some documents to a client. Great job USPS.
I don’t think I could do this if I tried.

Humble yourself. Actually.

UPS and FedEx are not required to deliver to rural areas. USPS is.
