When I was in japan, I was served this rice dish. I took a spoon full of the rice dish and put it in my mouth, stuff was jumping around in it.

Apparently they put a bunch of very small live fish on the rice. It was supposedly a delicacy, but I think it was "hey let's laugh at the gaijin (foreigner)" I didn't spit it out but only had a few bites.

What was the weirdest thing you have eaten?

And PIMP - if you read this, do you know what the hell that was?

Some kind of raw meat stuff in Barolo in the piedmont wine region in Italy... can't really describe it that's how strange and nasty it was. Ate some nasty appetizers in Venice too.

Worst tasting stuff I've ever tried though is vegemite... they seem to love it in Australia.

Calf brains and eggs. My grandmother fixed them for me every weekend and they were awesome. The best breakfast food I have ever had. Thank you Ma Mere.

Boiled pig kidney and intestine in China. If I didn't know what it was, it wouldn't be so bad, but it look so damn gross.

My theory/opinion on alligator...ain't bad, but the dish would have been better if I'd used something else. Query...Who else has cleaned a whole gator in their kitchen and not gotten divorced????

Smoked ponce (pig stomach).

Pretty bad.

Popular in rural cajun country, Church Point, Eunice, etc. They stuff the stomach with pork sausage and smoke it. The oils in the stomach give off a foul odor you will never forget.

Yuk!
