Imagine working your life away to provide for a woman, only to be served divorce papers at 65.
Most husbands are so naive that they don't realize that she's been planning this for years, if not decades.
"Well, I guess I've milked this meal ticket for all he's worth. Time to file for divorce now that the income stream is ending, not to mention I don't want him hanging around MY house all day"
70% of divorces are filed by the wife.
I'm guessing in Gray Divorce it's closer to 100%.
No way in hell a guy is going to work his life away and then choose to financially destroy himself at 65.
One minute you are on the verge of retirement, the next minute you are financially destroyed and retirement is a pipe dream.
What a nightmare.
MSN - Gray Divorce Rates
“Gray divorce” is the term for couples ages 50 and older calling it quits, and it has tripled among couples 65 and older since 1990, reaching 15% in 2022, according to researchers at Bowling Green State University.
By 2019, more than a third of all divorces involved people over 50 — a trend expected to continue as Americans live longer and become more willing to leave unhappy marriages.

The ones they paid into?

They paid to support a tiny population that had a lower life expectancy.
Boomers the largest generation of government dependents in history.

Boomers got like 12 cents taken out of their check back in the 70s

What government benefits are you referring to ?
If you are referring to Social Security then you must be ignorant to the fact that these same people had SS Tax ripped out of their checks their entire lives and are merely receiving in return a fraction of what they paid into SS.

Ignorant kids today think that inflation was invented 10 years ago.
A couple of young retards were lamenting how they will never be able to afford a house with mortgage rates at all time high.
I informed them that in the early 80's that mortgage rates were 18%.
Most clueless generation in history

Kids are finally out of the house and they retire realizing they don't like each other anymore.
Doesn't seem that complicated

Every government welfare program EXPLODED under boomers.
Pensions, medicare, medicaid, food stamps, etc. Grew exponentially under boomers.
Now theyre robbing the young as their "retirement plan".
Youre about to get dumped off into the ravine old man. The young refuse to pay for your resentful arse.
Cant wait and its going to happen soon. We're coming for every last one of your entitlements you force the young to pay for.
No one asked, you just feel entitled to it.

Found the boomer. So out of touch they even got flamed by a Gaucho post.

I know a few olds who got a divorce just for tax purposes so they could homestead in separate states.

Handle paperwork NOW, or before marriage with crystal clear language covering all financial aspects.
Its soooo easy. Why are men and women scared to cover such an important aspect of life.
Grow a set!

Somehow this quickly became a Boomer hate thread.
Break the article down and see who files for that divorce. It’s overwhelmingly women that file for divorce. That’s where the discussion needs to focus.
Btw: I’m Gen X by 10 months. I’m not a Boomer.

Be careful, speaking this truth will get you in trouble with the sheep.

This seems like a misogynistic statement, someone will be here shortly to scold you for hating women.

People are living longer, working longer, getting married and having kids later. Is it any wonder they divorce later too? A lot of 60 yr olds will have 25-30 more years to be miserable with their spouses.

Its not. Protect your money, hide it, steal it, disperse it w penalties...whatever you have to do before divorce happens. And most know G damn well when its coming...years in advance.
Not a chance in hell someone who didn't work will get part of my estate. ZERO!
I have a "friend" that got divorced ,from a female attorney, and she got zero...nothing. and no child support.
Seriously, dont break the law, just go around it...there are.tons of ways to gain protections, legally. It is INSANE to work your whole life and have someone divorce you and get as much as you...absolute moronic insanity if you let it happen.
