Why is Gameday at the SEC Champ Game when #1 is playing #2 in B10?

The SEC game has no juice and Gameday from Atlanta is an atrocious setting.

I thought they were supposed to go to the "biggest game" every weekend? Or are they just going where Jimmy Sexton tells them?

Doesn’t Fox do the Big 10 show? Maybe they didn’t want to try and compete with Fox?

Probably had more to do with TV rights, highlighting their network than anything.

It’s almost like ESPN has a deal with the SEC and Fox has a deal with the Big 10

Is there any doubt the SEC championship game will pull better ratings?

I’m sick of hearing about the SEC bias stuff. Why do none y’all complain that the Fox pregame show exclusively goes to B1G games? ESPN at least makes some effort to cover the B1G.

The Big10 title game has almost zero juice. Only thing that has appeal is that Indiana has never been good enough to be there.

Ironically the SEC game is more meaningful. UGA is playing for a bye. Bama is playing to potentially get up to a bye - almost certainly a home game - and also to avoid the extremely slim possibility of falling out of the field altogether.

The most meaningful is the Big 12. BYU is definitively win and in, lose and out. TTU is playing for a bye, and theoretically could drop to a road game with a loss (though I think it’s unlikely).

B1G is relatively meaningless. Both IU and OSU are locks for a bye.

Any thoughts on scheme from both Big Ten schools today? Like you said it’s meaningless is it going to be vanilla play calling so they’re not giving each other tape?

No one wants to go north of the Mason Dixon line for half of the year.

The game at the nearly 70,000-seat stadium is sold out. Neuburger said, “The ticket is a very tough ticket. It has been sold out for weeks and weeks and weeks.” And that, in turn, “makes it possible for a record-making weekend for Indy with fans from both teams living within driving distance.”
