Safeties don’t usually go in the top 10 but you could make the argument he’s the best player in the draft. Would you be happy if we were able to trade down and still nab him? I know we want defensive linemen but this guy has All-time great written all over him.

Seems to be a top one or two pick unless you need QB or OT :

Guy has it all.

Games are won in the trenches. Downs is great but we need top talent on the DL more. We should trade down and get the best OL (Spencer Fano) or DL (Peter Woods) available.

Reese is a good player but Downs has done it for a year longer and in different systems. Freshman all American. The best ones usually show you earlier.

Interior oline is most needed. OG and OC, McCoy is always hurt

You could probably get a good guard prospect early in the second round.

Unless there is a Quentin Nelson type prospect in this class, you don't need to be picking a guard that high in the first round.

We suck at drafting OL and DL.

Draft Downs this year
Draft Jeremiah Smith next year
Then get a QB in 2028

We need OL because we have wasted (1) 1st rd pick on a player who is arse (Ruiz), (1) 1st rd pick that was so bad we traded him to LAC for a 6th, and (1) 2nd rd pick that is always injured.

In the last 7 years we have wasted (2) 1sts and a 2nd on OL and used (2) more 1sts on OT.

Lets just use every single first for the next 10 years on OL so we can eventually end up with 2 starters!

At this point OL should be the only thing we don't ever draft and all future cap space goes to FA OL.

We need better guard play to get this offense going. So if it’s a first round guard I’m good.

I’m not picking a Saftey top 5. Downs is incredible but Saftey is just not a premium position.

If we’re picking 6-10 then I can definitely be talked into it depending on who’s still on the board.

Exactly. You never pick guards, centers, safeties, tight ends, even running backs in the first. I woulda made an exception for Bowers two years ago tho. Or Adrian Peterson when he came out. A can’t miss generational prospect.

They don’t impact the game enough to warrant the pick.

I like Downs and would be happy if we picked him. I’d rather get Reese or a receiver though

It’s really too early to say who goes where or even know where we will draft. But we need players everywhere, so I’m not that concerned about position.

My list in order as of right now:
1) Arvell Reese
2) Caleb Downs

3) Spencer Fano
4) Jordan Tyson/Carnell Tate

6-10) Jeremiyah Love, Francis Mauigoa, Keldric Faulk, Avieon Terrell, Mansoor Delane

Record for receptions in a season is 149, that’s 8.8 receptions a game. If you have an offense that feeds the RB 15 times a game how can you say that don’t have as much of an impact as a WR that would average 1/2 the touches

The way to not suck at drafting linemen is to draft better ones not stop drafting them.

I’d be fine with drafting the top OT in the first because both Banks and Fuaga have the talent to play inside

I don’t know what happened to Fuaga. He was good last year, but he’s been bad this year. And I don’t think it’s just injury as I see him block someone, then stop blocking before the play is over and end up in the way.

I’d be okay with Fano at RT, moving Fuaga to LG and signing a new RG.

Not so sure about that. One such safety in 09 led us to the promise land.

Running backs do impact the game greatly. Problem is, they usually have a short shelf life. And they often get injured more than any other position.

And you can usually find good ones later in the draft. Two guys I liked the draft we took Miller, Achane went in the bottom of the third and Chase Brown went in the 5th or 6th I think. Skattebo just went in the 4th. Kamara went in the 3rd and had almost the exact stats as Mcaffery who went in the 1st before he got into Shannys system. Bucky Irving went in the 4th.

Skattebo was outperforming Jeanty before his injury.

He sat in free agency awhile to that year. Nobody wanted him. We got him on a one year deal for the min.

Kevin Byard is in the same situation this year. In his 30’s, signed a short deal for 7 a year and he’s leading the league in interceptions.
