2 things for my first wife that had her bawling
- found a random album (sparky's musical piano) that she could only remember certain parts of. i figured it out and ordered the CD (back in the 90s) and when i surprised her by playing it she burst into tears for a solid minute
- same wife, she had a torn up doll from her childhood and i found an old lady in town who specialized in sewing/cleaning/repairing old dolls. i had it fixed for her and pretty much got the same reaction
- when i finally was on my own (paying my own car insurance i think was the last burden on my family
) and had a little extra cash, i invited my parents down to houston where i was living and had a limo rented, had my brother call on the car phone (this was a big deal back then) since he was living in WV at the time, took them 2 a 5-star restaurant and had the chef personally deliver his signature meal and had them make a cake that said 'thank you for everything you've done for me'. i'd never seen my dad crack any sort of emotion my entire life so i wasn't expecting to see the man break down in tears.
both parents are deceased now so that's a core memory for me. i'm usually an a-hole but every now and then i do something sweet so i have to hang onto those things.

I had a portrait painted of my sister’s 17 year old dog that just passed away two months ago.

I made babies… that, his coming to Christ and his father’s sudden death I think are the only things that have brought tears to my husband’s eyes.

Will let you know how my present turns out this year. Have three girls ranging from 10 to 5. They all wore the same purple coat as their first coat. I am having the coat framed with a collage of pictures of them in the coat and plan to hang it by the coat closet.

My wife’s father passed away our first year of marriage.
While she was getting Halloween decorations out, a Halloween themed snow globe fell and broke. This was a globe that her father had gotten her when she was very young and he displayed it every year. She was heart broken.
The following week I searched online and found a shop in Tennessee that repairs snow globes. Spoke to someone from the business and shipped the broken globe. I received the globe and the repair looked great.
She opened the gift on Christmas. She couldn’t believe her eyes and cried for a little while.
She lets me know every year that this gift is the best one ever.
I will never be able to top this.

I got my wife the wrong kind of purse once and she just started crying, saying I didn't pay attention to her or some shite.
