Hiring an elite DC should be no problem.

We have good players in place, we can pay more than anyone else, and we are going to have a potent offense

It’s either the DC sucks and gets fired, or he’s great and leaves for a HC opportunity. Almost seems like you have to try and find a guy that is good but not great if you want any kind of continuity lol

The biggest lie on TD. House took 29 scholarship players to a top 30 defense. Btw, it took Baker 3 years and a chunk of NIL to make thag happen. Then we lost even more talent and he had to put guys out there who 10 games into the season still had no idea how to play zone coverage.
BK used him as a scapegoat, same as Sloan.
Theres a reason House went right back to the NFL without even a few weeks in-between employment.

Don't know how House got hired by Kelly but I do KNOW that Pelini wasn't even interviewed by Orgeron. Wow! Just went by past reputation even though Pelini's GOOD tenure was before the influx of dual threat/running QBs. Talk about LAZY! I BET that Lane Kiffin will have interviewed the picked the DC or coached against him and known him for years.

In reality it’s never that easy. Each of our last 3 coaches have botched a DC hire.
