How many years does Lane get?
a) to make the playoffs
b) to win the SEC
c) to win a natty
Before the natives get restless? (Obviously, y’all are the natives)
Full disclosure - I’m an UGA alumnus

It has less to do with making the playoffs and more to do with getting better every year. Which his predecessor did not do. It also has to do with having a prepared team week in and week out, which his predecessor also did not do.

Lane gets one loss and then the natives are coming out! ??

Nah, I just want to be aggressive, competitive and actually enjoyable to watch next year, regardless of record. Give him a chance to implement his process. The teams the past two years have sucked the life out of my LSU fandom and made it hard to enjoy football season. I hated the CBK hire, he almost won me over the JD5 years, and then proceeded to tank the program after that.

Shouldn’t you be somewhere barking at small children?

Like every coach in the last 30 years
Championship within 4 years
Championship within 4 years

Just bringing the excitement back will give him a little time but I fully expect him to have us in the playoffs within two years. I was contemplating not renewing season tickets a few weeks ago. Now I’m all the way back in!

Playoffs by year two, three at the latest.

Since LSU will be financing the acquisition of a strong squad, it is up to LK and staff to recruit and coach said players to the CFP by Year 3. Hopefully we can contend for the NC in Year 4 or Year 5.
I think you will find that the fans will give Kiffin a longer leash than we gave Kelly. I have been an LSU fan since I was 9 years old in 1960 and this is the most positive reception LSU fans have ever given a new head coach (inlcuding Saban.)

Are you guys going to choke to Bama?

Gonna give you some perspective that I think is flying under the radar for a lot of fans outside of the LSU circle…
In a span of 3.5 years BK fielded both the statistically worst offense & statistically worst defense in school history. Two different seasons.
Had BK stayed on track after his W division title, he would have been fine. The wheels truly fell off that man.
Kiffin will get a lot of slack year 1 due to the way coaching transitions tend to go in this era of CFB — after that, he has as much rope as anyone. No reason to not compete for a berth in a 12-team playoff field year in and year out.

No rope. Assess as time goes by

Veeeeery interesting... An alumnus and not an alum. Obviously, you received a quality education somewhere.
Npw to your questions:
a) One year is the dream, two years is possible, but three years I would expect us to be very much there.
b) With the changes in the way the conference champion is decided these days (thanks to expanding the conference beyond a reasonable population of teams), there's really no way of telling. The consensus seems to be that most teams would rather have a week off before the playoffs begin. According to those who follow this mantra, the conference championship no longer matters to anyone but us old fogeys.
c) I think a national championship can be attained withing three to five years if everything we believe about Kiffin is true. It remains to be seen though. He did something absolutely spectacular with Ole Miss, and we coon-asses are pretty confident that we can do a even a little bit better with him at the helm.
Good luck to y'all this weekend. I have to work with a senior project manager who is probably the biggest UGA fan I have ever known. He'll ruin the entire mood for all of next week if UGA loses and doesn't get a bye week in the playoffs.

Also, managed to field two fantastic offenses and a fantastic defense.
Well, his coordinators did…

I hope not
live in Bham, so it sucks worse for me when we lose to them - my guess is that most of y’all would rather see us win it than them
