Sexton=PSU struggles to hire a coach?

Has anyone else seen that Sexton was pretty pissed that Franklin (his client) was fired by PSU. So his retaliation was to get Cignetti (his client) an extension with Indiana, Ruhle (his client) an extension with Nebraska and then Hartline (his client) the USF job which were all potential coaches PSU coveted. I know it's common practice to get them extensions when there are rumors. I can not confirm this it is merely hearsay I just thought I was pretty intriguing if true.

that's what sexton does regardless of being mad at another school.

Why would Sexton be mad? He gets a cut of Franklin’s buyout and his new salary at VT
Then he convinces PSU to give a significant pay bump for another one of his clients, where he gets another cut

I understand the financial side of it and the advantages with Sexton. Gotta rewind a couple months and remember what everyone was saying when Franklin was fired and how they were a play away from the championship last year. At that time it was for sure a surprise that he was let go.

There's no way someone takes USF over Penn State

He'll connect a client to Penn State if it's a good business deal.
Probably just used the opening as leverage.

In the end, the client controls the decision making. Sexton can be pissed. He can advise his client's not to take a job. He can't force his clients to pass on a job though.
IMO, Franklin's firing was kneejerk reaction (like LSU's with Kelly) with the assumption they would be able to get someone "bigger" to win the game Franklin wasn't winning. Then the market got crowded with LSU, Florida, and others jumping in, and the pool of candidate that most would consider to be "better" than Franklin got really, really small. The AD is now caught in a box. Hire someone with a much lesser resume than Franklin and try to explain it to the boosters/fans OR keep waiting and hope a "big name" suddenly becomes for available and interested.

Sexton’s coaches go where they want, Sexton just extracts every last dime from the coaches school of choice.

Not how this works

This is typical Jimmy Sexton.

Exactly. I don't know where Todd McShay got the idea that Sexton was intentionally sabotaging Penn State just because Franklin got fired, but people seem to be running with it just because.
Seems like some bullshite Pat Kraft would leak to take some heat off of himself for screwing up this search.

I'm sure he's not actually angry. You feint ire to show that you're on your dude's side. If it means an enemy of my friend is my enemy, you make certain that your friends' enemy (PSU in this case) doesn't hire from anyone in your client pool. If they do get to the point of desperation, you pin their ears to the wall and demand an exorbitant amount of money to do so.

They are gonna have to with Terry Smith unless they can talk Jeff Monken into it which I think is unlikely

Sexton gets richer no matter what, so I don't think he personally cares. However, if one of his good clients, Franklin in this case, is pissed and wants to inflict some pain on former school, he'll find a way to do that while also getting clients raises and new jobs elsewhere. Franklin trolled PSU with the Crumble cookie posts, so I'd say he's a little salty.
