Miami and Notre Dame SOS and SOR ranks are virtually identical

Notre Dame SOS 42 and SOR 13
Miami SOS 44 and SOR 14
The MINUSCULE advantage ND has in schedule strength should be easily trumped by Miami actually beating ND head to head. To debate otherwise is ridiculous.

The committee is just as terrible a system as we had before

Does Miami have worse losses

That just shouldn’t matter when notre dame actually beat Miami and they have identical records and other metrics.
Better losses should never trump on the field results. It should be a down the line tiebreaker.

This isn’t a tie breaker & there aren’t rules. It’s an evaluation & they think ND currently looks like a better team than Miami.
All Miami had to do was not lose to Louisville (8-4) or SMU (8-4)

Head to head matters as a tie breaker in every sport ever except for college football for some reason. Imagine two NFL teams sitting atop a division 12-4, one swept the division, but somehow lost to the Titans, Saints, Raiders, and Giants so they lose because of their losses.

They will? They’re #12… they are already screwed

In many cases you won't have a head to head comparison. Here, you do. It's totally illogical to ignore that where just about every other metric is basically even.
Last year there were three 9-3 SEC teams: Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina. Both Alabama and South Carolina each beat 3 teams who were ranked in the top 25 (at the time the game was played). Ole Miss beat 1. South Carolina had the best non-conf win of the group (@ Clemson). Yet, South Carolina was ranked behind both Alabama and Ole Miss in the final CFP poll. Why? Because they lost to both Ole Miss and Alabama.
Clearly head to head mattered there. So why shouldn't it matter now?

Yes. But they also have a much better win. Miami beat the #9 team in the country. Notre Dame’s best win is against #23 USC. And it could be debatable if Miami’s better win trumps Notre Dame’s better losses. If not for the fact that Miami’s better win was NOTRE DAME.
This shouldn’t even be a debate. I really hope the playoff committee doesn’t do something so stupid.

Use BCS rankings to determine the 12 team playoff order ranks
Posted on 12/3/25 at 1:10 pm to Lgrnwd
they have a lot of common opponents as well.
Stanford
Miami 42-7, ND 49-20
Syracuse
Miami 38-10, ND 70-7
NC State
Miami 41-7, ND 36-7
Pittsburgh
Miami 38-7, ND 37-15
And of course the h2h Miami win.

it's not too late
screw Duke
have Miami play Virginia for the ACC playoff berth
as far as Notre Dame, plenty of teams could have navigated that schedule

BCS was never 100% accurate but it’s not like it will leave an actual contender out of the top 12. Get rid of the committee
Vandy gets in as the #12 seed. Sorry UNT, Tulane, & JMU.

Don’t Miami and ND have 4 common opponents
Think Miami beat 3 of them by more as well as beating ND head to head

I wonder if Miami now regrets not joining the SEC.
Posted on 12/3/25 at 1:43 pm to JimTiger72
The BCS computers also have ND ahead of Miami.

Can't use the BCS rankings, it has Miami under ND. COMMITTEE BIAS!

In the bcs era we wouldn’t give a frick about who is competing for the 10 spot in the ranking
