10yr olds 1st rifle

I'm looking for a deer rifle for my 10yr old daughter. We've been using my Ruger American .308 but its just a little too big for her to set up comfortably to make a good shot. Any ideas?

AR in 6.5 grendel.
Adjustable stock and the grendel is a great round for deer out to 300yds.
ETA: AR is easier to suppress as well. Every kid needs a silencer on their deer rifle.

I believe Ruger makes a 6.5 grendel ranch rifle. It'll have the same LOP as yours but a shorter barrel.
AR with adjustable stock would be the ticket.

Ruger American Compact in 7mm-08 is what I started my boys with at that age.
Before that they used my AR in .223 with “deer” rounds because of the adjustable stock.

Started my daughter with a ar .223. The collapsible stock and the ability to let her shoot a ton of cheap bullets was the ticket. She killed several with it starting at 7yr old then I moved her to a 6.8spc then a 308. 223 with proper ammo is all most kids or adults really need for most whitetail deer.

Crack barrel 350 legend. Ambidextrous, can get used to handling a gun as a single shot without dealing with magazines, or the more complicated semi auto action. It's low recoil, plenty lethal inside 125 yards, and as a bonus can continue to use it as a primitive weapon for the rest of thier life.

I have a youth cva crack barrel in 7mm-08 that’s now on 3rd boy. I really like that gun. I start them off with red dot then go to scope.

223 AR is great, low recoil, adjustable stock. Perfect for kids.

243 are deer injury, not kill. .308 or 7-08 is best..they’re either ready or they aren’t…they got the rest of their life…don’t rush..

People that say .243 = “injury” are retarded lol. I’ve personally seen truck loads of deer folded like a lawn chair with 100gr Hornady Interlock. There’s so many good options out there now…350 legend, 6.5 creed, suppressed 6.5 prc is very manageable, 7mm-08, .308, 25-06, .260. BUT .243winny is really hard to beat with the right ammo.

Minute of deer is unacceptable with any caliber.
I have several friends who routinely drop deer with .243, so I suggested this caliber to my brother for his children and wife to use on deer and small hogs. They have all thanked me for the suggestion. Not one deer has been lost.

When someone brings up .243 it always brings out some idiots. 
it's a great round. I killed my first deer as a kid with an old 6 mm. I bought a .243 when i got older and still love to hunt with it. Killed just as many deer with it than my .308 and 7 mag combined. I'll probably let my daughter use it next year for her first hunt when she turns 10.

243s are a fast, flat shooting round, known for accuracy, and are powerful enough to kill a deer. It's a great gun for experienced adults who don't get the shakes as bad and have the wherewithal to know where the deer was standing when they shoot. They don't always leave really good blood trails even on lethal shots, because it blows through with limited expansion or doesn't exit.
They are given to kids because they are low recoil, and they get a bad rap because kids are using it, not always making the best shots, and ending up with poor blood trails, I've seen too many times where a deer is dead inside 150 yards with little to no blood trail.
A 350 legend will have a bigger entry and much more likely of an exit, deliver more energy, with the added benefit of also having less recoil. The only down side is its lobbing the bullet out there, so past 125 its falling fast, I don't see that as a bad thing, because shooting past that early on is probably not for the majority of younger hunters, by the time they are 14-15yo they can easily handle rounds with more recoil suited for longer distances.

This method will get them comfortable and focused without worries about kick or noise. They will be more accurate when they get the bigger .308 but truth be told 5.56 is all you need for whitetail in the south

It’s funny that when people cripple a deer with a 300wm they claim how tough deer are and when they hit it in the boiler house and it dies they say “ that’s why I use a 300wm”
Bad shots are bad shots , deer are not armour plated and most people myself included shoot lower recoiling guns better.
