If that's what Blake wants and they offer it to him, I'm happy for him. But, selfishly, I'd love to see him stay and keep some continuity on defense. The guy is a hell of a coach. Regardless of what some of the geniuses on here say, he took a historically bad defense and has it top 25 in two seasons.....that's pretty damn impressive. If they had an offense worth a shite this year, he's probably top 10 if we're being honest. Offense kept them on the field a ton in basically every game. If you combo him with Lane and his offense....that's something I'd love to see.

Tulane is turning into a great place for Head Coach experience. It's the right move .

When guys like this have bigger aspirations to be HC somewhere, it typically has a time frame associated with it, and is often, back of mind, with an intention of it being somewhere specific. A lot of big schools are replacing coaches this year, which means those schools are effectively off the table in the next 3-4 years (I know, right...).

If he's got these types of aspirations, I wonder, if taking the job at Tulane, does that push back his big school, big conference dreams slide his time frame a few years because he knows he'll have to be committed to Tulane for a longer period of time vs another year or 2 at LSU as DC?

Could he not see exactly who it was from the trunk of his car?

Jon Sumrall was head coach at Tulane for two years and is now the head coach at Florida.

If Baker keeps the Tulane program moving then he can get a big time job in 2 years easily.

Jon Sumrall stopped by for a cup of coffee and got the Florida job

Tulane football is certainly not a coaching graveyard anymore

Kane Wommack is going to get one of these good G5 jobs like Tulane, Memphis or UsF

I'm hoping that's what wins out. The only other point I'd make for someone like Baker and that particular job is that Fritz hit the ceiling, and Sumrall basically sustained it for two years. What direction can you really go with Tulane? I just see it as a you can only go down or stay the same type situation. If he goes there and it tanks, well..... that really sets back his goals of getting a bigger job at some point. It's much more likely to dip from what it has been since that's the most success they've had consistently in the modern football era. It just seems risky in that way. But, if he sustains or makes it a little better than what it already has been, that would look great for him as well.

Could you imagine going through this process without a CC Board?

I think I’ve repeated this to my wife so many times during games that she is probably looking for a Alzheimer’s facility to put me in

I would have been a lot more productive over the past two weeks.

At 830 I was told Baker was gone! I'm just waiting for secondary confirmation.

If he tanks at Tulane then he probably shouldn't be a head coach. If he maintains what Tulane has going on it shows that he understands the portal and can actually be a head coach.

Tulane is in top 3 of the AAC in coaching salaries and NIL money. Tulane is set up to keep winning.

Sumrall kept the program going and he had 2 possibly 3 (still no sure if Ole Miss ever had intrest) SEC offers.

Agreed that if he can't win at a decent level there, it's pretty telling. Good to know the other information, because I admittedly know very little about Tulane. I'm just saying it could be risky because, even if he doesn't "tank" per se and takes a small step back, he might not get the interest from the bigger schools he was hoping for. If he stays the DC at LSU another 2-3 years and they're potentially winning NCs, he would probably get that interest anyway. Like I said before, I hope he gets what he wants either way, and if that's Tulane, then I hope he keeps them rolling.
